Publisher's summary

Ezekyle Abaddon and his warlords strive to bind the newborn Black Legion together under threat of destruction. Now Khayon, as Abaddon's most-trusted assassin, is tasked with ending the threat of Thagus Daravek, the self-proclaimed Lord of Hosts - a rival to the Ezekyle's final fate.

Fighting the vile whispers of the Dark Gods within his mind, Abaddon turns a fevered gaze back to the Imperium, where his destiny awaits. Yet the Emperor's Champion and his Black Templars stand guard at the gates of Hell, and Sigismund has waited centuries to face Abaddon in battle.

Crafted and Performed Perfectly

As a narrator myself I keep a few role models. Jonathan Keeble is one of them. His invective, passion and instinctive grasp of the characters in this story - especially the protagonist Khayon - when coupled with Aaron's masterful storycrafting and insight into the characters and their very reasons to exist, will draw you in wholly and completely. I can't listen to anyone read this story aloud other than through Keeble's narration. To me, he *is* Iskandar Khayon, and that is the hallmark of an excellent performer.

2 for 2 in this series

Black Library does it again! Keeble's performance is off the charts! emphasizes the power behind the black legion while at the same time preserving the humanity of the legionnaires.

Tizcan perfection

One of the finest examples of both black library literature and audio. ADB is a master of his craft and Jonathan Keeble gives perfect voice to his prose.

Another Beautiful Narration by Jonathan Keeble

The story is excellent, but it's almost secondary to the narration. Keeble's performance is so good that I've gone back many times just to listen again to a masterfully performed bit. Example, Telemachon laughing after meeting Moriana is so well done, I've listened to just that part around 30times over the last 2 days. Where other narrators SAY, the character: "laughed", barked a laugh, wheezed, blurted, gulped, etc. Keeble actually performs it, which brings his narration to a whole different level.

Love it. Mostly...

The story, and the series are fantastic. My only issue is continuity. The change in pronunciation of "Ezekiel" from the first book is annoying to say the least.

A Great Sequel

The main character and the acts he witnesses are compelling, a well portrayed flip-side to the "good" Imperium. I do hope he survives this series and returns later causing havoc for the forces of order.
