Publisher's Summary

From animosity to searing passion in a lunar cycle...but can their bond survive?

Wolf shifter Nathan Kohl's pack is his whole life. Arrogant and handsome, he avoids commitment to anything or anyone outside of his pack. He works hard, plays hard, and pursues humans as lovers because there's little to no chance of him forming a permanent bond. However, when Jared Taylor comes into Nathan's life, every rule is broken.

After a bad experience, Jared vowed to never get involved with another shifter, no matter how much they got under his skin. Despite being physically attracted to Nathan, who's all kinds of hot, Jared only sees an arrogant, domineering bastard.

A disastrous case of mistaken identity throws Nathan and Jared together until the next full moon. Forced to spend the next twenty-eight days in close proximity, they can no longer ignore the powerful attraction between them. Passion ignites, and their relationship takes a turn neither of them wanted.

But when the full moon comes, everything might change again.

Contains mature themes.

A few questions, but a great book!

I’ve never read anything by Annabelle Jacobs before and I can’t recall hearing Antony Ferguson either, but I was impressed with both! I consider this to be a stellar find and I’m already on my second go-round. I’m not a huge fan of shifter books where shifters are out in the open and exist together with humans, but Ms. Jacobs did a great job with building that world. I’d almost describe it as an enemies-to-lovers storyline between two strangers. Parts of it had me on the edge of my seat and it seemed like the story flew by, but it wasn’t overly angsty either. I did end up with quite a few questions about parts of the plot that weren’t answered (and maybe will be expanded on in future stories?). Without giving away major spoilers, they all kind of revolve around just WHY everyone hates Nathan? It’s a common theme and I just didn’t understand the sentiment. Aside from that, I liked the author’s unique take on how shifters bond. I don’t think it’s one I’ve seen before and not the typical “true mate” trope. Antony Ferguson was clearly an excellent narrator choice and his voices were well-separated and different, despite the broad amount of characters in the book. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more from this duo!

Bad AI Narrator

I'm almost willing to bet the narrator was not human. I've heard what I thought was this exact voice in text to speech generators, and this would explain the total lack of emotion and inflection. It was really bad. If that is the case, I truly hate the idea of human voice actors being replaced by artificial voices and it sets an unacceptable precedent. If not, it's just indefensibly bad voicework.

Cute

I enjoyed the masculine vibe created by the story. They characters were sweet. However, the narrator’s lack of voice change and name mistakes (once) made it hard to follow at times.

Hmm... On the fence

I love Antony Ferguson's narration in any book. So it had that going for it. Beginning is bitten to automatic love mine of read, I enjoy a little more meat in the book before that happens.

Robotic narration. I thought it was AI

I had high hopes for this audiobook, however, the robotic narration and lack of emotion in Antony Ferguson's voice made this difficult to listen to. He can't do accents and so all of the characters sound the same, bland, lacklustre, indistinct. The story was good, although a little unnecessarily over-complex, I'll choose the ebooks to continue the series. I think SIRI would give the characters more feeling.
