Publisher's Summary

The author of the acclaimed best sellers Benjamin Franklin, Einstein, and Steve Jobs delivers an engrossing biography of Leonardo da Vinci, the world's most creative genius.

Leonardo da Vinci created the two most famous paintings in history, The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. But in his own mind, he was just as much a man of science and engineering. With a passion that sometimes became obsessive, he pursued innovative studies of anatomy, fossils, birds, the heart, flying machines, botany, geology, and weaponry. His ability to stand at the crossroads of the humanities and the sciences, made iconic by his drawing of Vitruvian Man, made him history's most creative genius.

Now Walter Isaacson brings Leonardo da Vinci to life, showing why we have much to learn from him. His combination of science, art, technology, and imagination remains an enduring recipe for creativity. So, too, was his ease at being a bit of a misfit: illegitimate, gay, vegetarian, left-handed, easily distracted, and at times heretical. His relentless curiosity should remind us of the importance of instilling, in both ourselves and our children, not just received knowledge but a willingness to question it - to be imaginative and, like talented misfits and rebels in any era, to think different.

"A compelling and detailed examination "

I am really enjoying this title. Molina’s narration is a perfect fit, delivering a deeply interesting story that is accidentally educational. As much as I enjoy historical fiction, the way this is worded and delivered it is just as absorbing as any fictitious yarn.
Also, downloading the pdf is a must! Brilliant photos and infographics make the experience that much more enjoyable and informative.
Don’t hesitate - download this feast of creativity and biography before the Thanksgiving triptophan kicks in!

"Informative, but too long to stay enthused over"

Not much to say. Struggled to finish in that it seemed to have gone on forever. Individually compelling stories from Da Vinci's life and gives you the measire of the man, but the book lacked luster to me or any sense of something more than an endless laundry list of Da Vinci's accomplishments. I won't say it was bad. Maybe I have just been spoiled by a recent run of -very- good books where this one was merely, -good-.

    "Great book, great narration. "

I greatly enjoyed the book and the narration.

Italian pronunciation was generally correct, perhaps these names below could be checked with a native speaker if the narration is edited.

Pistoia (actually Pistola in the book, I am not sure a city named Pistola ever existed)
    Ghiberti
    Podesta
    Compagnia
Pavia (pronounced correctly in the second half of the book)
    Niccolo
    Calamita
    Girolamo
    Imola
    Forli
    Pesaro
