Publisher's summary

This war was inevitable.

After two brutal, bloody struggles for their very existence against implacable alien foes, humanity is victorious, but not at peace.

As distrust and accusations consume the political discourse between the two major factions, the Eastern Star Alliance military has already begun executing small raiding missions into United Terran Federation space. The Federation fleet, still reeling from the last war, is in no shape to try and protect its own borders.

Now, as diplomacy crumbles and tensions escalate, the ESA has moved into a Federation star system and declared it for themselves. Desperate, the Federation deploys a full task force commanded by Admiral Jackson Wolfe to try and defuse the situation, hoping his reputation forces calmer heads to prevail. Wolfe knows that even if he can stop the ESA here, the die has been cast. Humanity's march to war with itself cannot be stopped.

Battleground is the first book in the final trilogy of the Black Fleet Saga.

Joshua Dalzelle NAILS IT!

I truly enjoyed this book. It has flavorful brass humorous dialogue and it is realistic and believable! It has a very similar vibe to Craig Alanson books. I have bought the entire series and this is the best one out of all his other books in this series.

Another fantastic piece of the Black Fleet Saga

It seems some reviewers have started this series with this book, when in fact, it is book number 7. As part of the series, it continues the space opera with plenty of action and intrigue. The writing is quite good, the characters are believable and interesting. The narration is fantastic, Boyette presents the saga with a wide array of male and female voices that are easy to distinguish and really brings the story to life.

A book you may have to re-read.

You will have to concentrate if you want to read this one time. Because it deals with two main political war machines, there seems to be a disconnect in the way the story jumps between each. If the author or presenter were able to find a way to identify the jump from one to the other it would be clearer.

Jackson 🐺 Wolfe for president 2024. nuff said

my biggest issue was the author claimed the Veron were billions of light years away but in the same galaxy. could've been a narrator error as Dalzelle is above average in his technical understanding of astrophysics

Excellent Series

Dalzelle has done it again! This is a tale of one of the best written space battles I’ve read. The character development is deep with new faces and old favorites.
