I’m the coach’s daughter. Falling for one of my father's players was never the plan.
Especially not Decker Davis.
Chicago Colts third baseman.
Dependable. Steady. The guy everyone trusts.
And the man who’s spent years keeping his distance—especially from me.
We have history. The kind that ten years and a thousand miles can’t touch.
So, this time, I promised myself I'd be smarter.
No getting attached. No blurred lines. And definitely, no falling.
He broke every last one within the first week.
Because Decker doesn’t just show up for me. He shows up for my daughter.
Because he fits into our lives like he was always meant to be there.
Because he looks at me like I was never something he wanted to lose.
And suddenly, the walls I've spent years building don't feel nearly as solid as they used to.
But if I let him in, I’m not just risking my heart—I’m risking hers too… and I already know what losing him costs.
I won’t let my daughter pay that price.

Getting to hear more from Ruby was such a treat because she’s one of those characters you can’t help but love, and I know I’m not the only reader who feels that way. The Easter eggs from previous books made this story even more enjoyable and added so much depth for longtime fans of the series.
The yearning in this book absolutely wrecked me in the best way possible. Two people silently in love with each other since childhood, never acting on those feelings? It was heartbreaking, frustrating, emotional, and so incredibly beautiful. I found myself getting frustrated one minute and tearing up the next because their love felt so genuine and pure.
One thing I especially appreciated was seeing the brothers actively working to repair their relationship through therapy. It added such an emotional layer to the story and showed how much they truly cared about each other. Watching them put in the effort to heal and grow made the family dynamics feel authentic and meaningful.
If you love emotional slow-burn romance with deep history and intense longing, this one is definitely worth picking up.

I absolutely LOVED the full cast of narrators!! Willa Jaymes as Penelope, Teddy Hamilton as Decker, Erin Mallon as Callie, CJ Bloom as Leighton & Ruby, Meg Slyvan as secondary female roles, J. F. Harding as Hayes, Sean Masters as Foster, Connor Crais as Easton, & Austin Stone as secondary male roles are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their performance as they captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. They are entertaining storytellers, and their captivating performance keeps you enthralled from beginning to end.
