Great book but…

Super Soldier in Another World was phenomenal. Hoplite is an absolute badass protagonist. He is competent, powerful, and entertaining without feeling boring. The action, world-building, and progression kept me hooked from start to finish, and I was looking for excuses to keep listening.



My only criticism is the narration format. The narrators both did a great job, but I think this audiobook would have been even better in a duet style rather than dual narration. Having each narrator perform their character’s lines regardless of chapter perspective would have made conversations feel more natural and immersive.



Even with that minor complaint, this is an easy recommendation for anyone who enjoys overpowered protagonists, military themes, and isekai fantasy. Hoplite steals every scene he’s in, and I can’t wait for the next installment.

Great story strange audio choices

I love the story and atmosphere of of the world and how a brainwashed super soldier is coming to terms with the reality of a world that doesn't fit with what he is allowed to believe.
didn't like how the two voice actors would read sections of the book in their voice giving everyone two different sets of voices instead of the main characters having dedicated voices and the supporting characters being split between the actors.

Story is about exactly what you'd expect

Honestly, the book probably only deserves a 4/5 but I gave it a 5/5 as it's probably the best example of this niche idea of a Super Soldier in a fantasy setting that I've read. Some depth to the world and intriguing plot lines developing g for the series.

I like the premise and the characters are very flushed out, definitely going to listen to the next one

the unique magic system and world

I loved the unique magic system and mythology of the world along with how it's regions are separated. it's history and inhabitants feel very well fleshed out.
