Los Angeles is on fire. Society is collapsing. And Henry Hall is on the run.

After barely surviving the horrors of Puzzle House, Henry emerges into a city under martial law, consumed by carnage, madness and fear. Ancient entities summoned by the dark rituals performed at Puzzle House are twisting reality to their will, and in the chaos left behind, human monsters run rampant.

Hunted by the police and the sinister Infiniti Enterprises, Henry must again rely on unlikely allies, this time in a perilous journey across a city he no longer recognizes, to find his estranged wife and a reason to keep fighting.

But as the influence of these evil entities spreads across the city, and the vast scope of Infiniti's power reveals itself, Henry finds himself facing a chilling question: Did he ever truly escape Puzzle House, or is he still playing into their master plan?

Great sequel, but that ending…. NOOOOOOOO! Can’t wait for book 3! Mr Hempel hit it out of the park again with his narration. Highly recommend!!

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

It is rare that I enjoy a sequel more than the first one....but that is exactly what happened here. I do like that it wrapped up a few of the unanswered questions left at the end of book 1. The plot was more straight forward with the characters moving from POINT A and trying to get to POINT B and what happens in the meantime. The main reason for this being a 4* instead of a 5* is that it, once again, is a cliffhanger ending. I am not a fan of cliffhanger endings. I enjoy a story where each book has a beginning, middle, and an ending. Series are fine but I would rather they progress something like a tv series with a monster of the week format.....Meaning that the main conflict is resolved at the end of the story but the story can continue to another event in the next book.
