Worth it

Couldn't get the smile off my dumb face the whole time. With so many characters in the margins of this story, this was perfect.

very short and not quite as good as the regular books

so many random characters that I don't know/remember, I was thinking at least some of it would be Matt and Liz

better than I hoped!

because it was an in between collection of perspectives I was worried it would be bland confusing or irrelevant. it was not and in fact much better than I hoped it would be. it engaged you as it tied in the plots of a lot of side characters from throughout the series. it clearly was cleaning up allot of story branches leading everything to the new stage of the next story arch. im verry glad the author just keeps improving on their craft. can't wait for the next one!

The title of the book was an excellent introduction to this story

First of all, I enjoy this series. Second of all the story was great. It’s interesting to read about the peripheral characters in this universe. Third of all the narrator was great as always. If you have not read the series start from the beginning, just look how many books you have to go through. Excellent will be waiting for the next audible release of this series.

getting to see a whole sluth of outsider perspectives to the ascension gave a clarity i didn’t know i needed.

kinda just grounded the rest of the cast in a more *normal* light as much as they can be. shows just how impactful ascenders from the empire really are.

just like all the other books (in my opinion), despite being so much shorter than c. mantis’s average, i feel this release gave an equal, if not more importance to me than the others, if only for the needed distance between non-ascenders, almost ascenders, and true ascenders.
