Decades after starring in the film adaptation, Wil Wheaton narrates an all-new recording of the story that shaped a generation!

#1 New York Times bestselling author Stephen King's timeless novella The Body, originally published in his 1982 collection Different Seasons and adapted into the 1986 film classic Stand by Me, now available as a stand-alone edition.

Four rambunctious young boys venture into the Maine woods in search of a boy from a nearby town who has disappeared. Gordie Lachance and his three friends set out on a quest to find the missing boy's body along the railroad tracks. The Body is set outside King's iconic fictional town of Castle Rock, which is the setting of many of King's most popular books including It and The Stand, and Castle Rock, a 10-episode Hulu original series, based on King's short stories. King's The Body is an iconic coming of age story that explores the loneliness and isolation of young adulthood.

The narrator is excellent and he really brings the story to life. The beginning was very engaging, but as the story went on, it felt a bit disjointed and harder to follow. I started off really enjoying it, but I gradually lost connection with the story.

Well narrated, but not fully my type of story

Wil Wheaton crushed it in his performance in the film adaptation as a kid. And now he's crushed it as the narrator of this fantastic story.

Worth every penny.

Who Wheaton is absolutely the perfect narrator for the novella that became the movie Stand By Me.
He brings not only Birdie expertly back to life but captures the feel of both the time and complexity inherent in the story.

If you've seen Stand By Me, the narrative will pull the images to mind.
The only thing that could never be perfect, not due to lack by Wil, but due to expectations of the audience is the iconic "train"!!!! Will gives it everything., but just as Terry's pennies multiplied so do our memories of the scene.

Five stars all the way around for this snapshot in time.

Stunning and Well Done

As a massive Stand By Me fan, this was an absolute delight. The movie follows the book really well, and the book has great parts I hadn't heard before. Wil Wheaton does a remarkable job reading the story. He makes great gentle impressions of his co-stars voices, even getting that little squeak from River Phoenix. I currently live in the area where the story takes place, so it was fun being able to visualize where the boys were. If you love Stand By Me, you have to listen to this .

Excellent story and fabulous reading by Wil Wheaton.
