One day a job goes badly when the "debris" turns out to be an alien ship with a deceased crew and an autopilot warp drive. The alien craft jumps with The Junkyard attached only to crash land on a desolate, alien world. A world home to insects the size of cars called Underbeasts and the native alien orc-like Dal'no who have been thrown back to the Iron Age.

Join Dax, Mark, and Kane as they strike bargains with the formerly technologically advanced species, unravel the beginnings of a human written language, and find out they aren't the first humans to visit the strange planet.

Nothing new to see here

If I never hear the words "former professor" again, that would be great.

Excellent narration of a formulaic story that isn't awful, but mostly forgettable.

Enjoyable

The story had a unique storyline, and one of my favorite narrators. However, unless there is a sale/ or publishers pack offer, I'm going to move on to another series.

Story didn’t talk down to you and the voices were clear and understandable. Look forward to the other books in the series

Something different (and good) is hard to find

Enjoyed listening to this story as it is not the usual fare. Wish I found more like this.

The story is good, but with some glaring errors.

The author needs to do some basic research, if he’s going to have a character be a former service member. As an Army veteran, it takes me completely out of the story, when the author seems to think that Marines and Soldiers are the same thing and uses the terms interchangeably throughout the story, when describing the same guy. Is he a Marine or a Soldier? They are completely different things, with separate traditions and entirely separate cultures.

Also a former serviceman, accused of war crimes, will not be sent to a prison that houses civilian prisoners. I know it’s a science fiction novel, but it’s still annoying.
