No one ever escapes from this town.

Newlyweds Lisa and John's summer drive through the Oregonian wilderness takes a chilling turn when an unexpected blizzard traps their car. Desperate for refuge, they find hope in a sign: WELCOME TO__. Bundling up, they trek through the storm and find that, within the town, the blizzard ceases, though it rages just beyond the town's limits.

The streets are eerily quiet, lined with lifelike ice statues. Lisa and John soon realize they are being watched by the wary townsfolk, who reveal a haunting truth: this town is a prison, and the storm is a trap. As night falls, a deadly entity stalks the streets, claiming victims and leaving ice statues in its wake.

Trapped in this perpetual winter nightmare, Lisa and John must unravel the town's dark secrets to survive—or become the next frozen monument.

The Town the World Forgot (The Town That Shouldn't Exist Book 1)
- Boris Bacic

As my first experience with Bacic's writing, I approached this one with high expectations after hearing so many rave reviews. I was thrilled to discover a story that cleverly combines elements of both the paranormal and psychological thriller genres. Bacic’s writing is undeniably intriguing; he knows how to engage readers and pull them into the narrative. I felt this book and its characters in my core as I listened to it on Audiobook.

This debut book in a three-part series leads readers to a town that resists the laws of reality, where the ordinary and the extraordinary connect. Bacic crafts a captivating and thought-provoking tale that leaves you questioning many aspects of the story as it unfolds. A town that exists outside the confines of normal life with an eerie atmosphere, having the residents encounter strange happenings that constantly challenge their perception of reality.

Bacic skillfully weaves rich themes of isolation and identity, immersing the reader in an unsettling atmosphere. His descriptive writing vividly brings images of the town and its residents to life, effectively building tension and suspense that pulls readers deeper into the surrounding mysteries. The pacing is masterfully crafted, interspersing moments of quiet reflection with thrilling spikes of intrigue and tension.

Additionally, the dialogue among characters captures the complexities of their lives within the town, making them feel vulnerable and relatable while exploring their motivations and fears. Each one contributes to the story’s depth enhancing the overall story line. Bacic captures the continuum of human experience, from misery to hope allowing readers to relate with the journey they are on.

The Town the World Forgot is a solid beginning to a promising series that effectively blends horror, drama, and psychological suspense. Readers are encouraged to question their understanding of reality and delve into deeper philosophical reflections. I eagerly await the next installment in this haunting saga waiting to see what comes next for the town and its residents!
As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation by the author, present or future, for my review.

If You Love Eerie, This is the Place

Dark and depressing but you have to keep listening until the end until you find out what’s going on. But, that’s when it gets real depressing because it really leaves you hanging, not knowing what the hell it was all about in the first place. Is the author hoping for a part two?

Ending disappointing

WOW just WOW. It reminds me sort of the series From. It has my favorite themes blizzard, post apocalyptic (not really its just an isolated town), and monsters!!!

A couple driving to their honeymoon destination runs into a snowstorm - in the middle of summer and their car gets stuck. They trek through the snow to find help. The snow literally turns into a blizzard and them abruptly stops at the edge of a town. Everyone acts strange and the sheriff helps them find a house to sleep in and gets them warm clothes. The residents can't leave and there's a raging blizzard that always surrounds the town. No one who has left returns back.

not to give too much away........the town, though surrounded by a blizzard is relatively snow free just cold. They are completely cut off from the outside world. Food arrives at their one and only diner by an unknown person and if they pry too much trying to see or find out who it is they are punished with no new supplies for a few days!

when the residents see snow starting to fall they RUN home shut &U lock the doors. Within minutes the outside blizzard is now inside the town and a monster comes with it every time. By morning a resident is butchered and a mysterious frozen lifelike faceless statue depicting them is erected near by. There are dozens of statues in the town..

We finally start to get some answers with the Sheriff, the honeymooning husband (whose wife thinks it's all a strange hoax, an escape convict and a few other residence decide to go on the offenxese and find a way to escape. They organize and soon learn more than they wanted to!!

VERY good character development, imagery is amazing, story line is obviously fantastical but believable and narration is superb. I have almost 4,000 titles and only listen to post apocalyptic, horror etc. and this is in my top 10. After chapter 3 I purchased part 2!!! WELL WORTH THE CREDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a weakly executed knock-off of a TV show called From. The people who give it high ratings must have never heard of this show. I cannot recommend this title.
