In the Hands of the Lord

The Life of Dallin H. Oaks

By: Richard E. Turley Jr.

Narrated by: Bruce Lindsay

Dallin H. Oaks may not have seemed the likeliest choice to become an Apostle. His life path had been anything but conventional. He was only seven when his mother became a widow. His young adulthood saw him joining the National Guard and marrying at nineteen. But all along that path, the Lord was preparing him for the call that would eventually come.

This engaging biography by noted historian Richard E. Turley, Jr. takes the listener on a fascinating journey through the life of an extraordinary leader. It is filled with stories detailing his boyhood, his family life, his education and military experiences, and his distinguished academic and law career.

Most important, we witness his willingness to set aside that career in favor of a higher responsibility. In 1984, when President Gordon B. Hinckley extended the call to the apostleship, Dallin H. Oaks replied, "My life is in the hands of the Lord, and my career is in the hands of His servants." His lifetime of dedication to the Lord's work gives truth to his words and offers inspiration and faith to all who listen to his story.

How good natured President Oaks is. He always seemed so rigid.

Wonderful. I would love to see a follow up sometime. He became the first counselor to now when he is the new president of the church Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Always Faithful!

Loved every word! It was wonderful! Very inspirational and the narrator was great as well!

It was absolutely wonderful and I know this is a true prophet called for this time

Loved hearing this wonderful book as I walk and go about my day. So blessed to have him as our new prophet in the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS.

An uplifting biography of Dallin H. Oaks

I really enjoyed getting to know more about the new president of the Church.

I also learned from the example on how I should live my life.

Excellent book about an excellent disciple of Jesus Christ

I love hearing the stories of the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They come from such interesting backgrounds and the Lord works to make them great leaders.
