The Salish Sea Foot Mystery

  • Summary

  • The Strange Case of the Salish Sea Feet It all began on August 20, 2007, when a 12-year-old girl exploring a beach on Jedediah Island in British Columbia, Canada stumbled upon a blue and white running shoe. But this was no ordinary shoe—it contained a human foot. The first of the Salish Sea feet, it was soon followed by others. Less than a week later, a second foot appeared on nearby Gabriola Island. What made this discovery even more perplexing was that both feet were right feet, each wearing different shoes. Clearly, they didn’t belong to the same person. Since then, over 20 feet have been found around the Salish Sea, spanning both British Columbia and further south in the Puget Sound near Seattle. Most of these feet were clad in tennis shoes, although some were discovered in hiking boots.
