Paul Mitchell wasn't sure how things could get any worse.

Sure, he'd been booted from the Marine Corps and was forced to work as a freelancer because he couldn't hold down a regular job. He'd signed on with a mysterious crew of women, sailed across the void, and met interesting aliens and new people who tried to kill him. Against all odds, he'd somehow found himself stuck between a criminal psycho, Naval Intelligence, and a drop-dead gorgeous skipper who actually liked him. He'd even pulled a regular Prince Charming and saved a damsel in distress.

If past performance was the best predictor of future success, he should have been well on the way to an early retirement. Too bad his past was coming back to haunt him. With his assets frozen and warrants out for his arrest, retreat was the only option. He just hoped he didn't drag the rest of the crew down with him—and that was if the skipper didn't toss him out an airlock in his sleep.

Despite feeling like he'd finally turned over a new leaf, Mitchell would have to figure out a way to prove that he was worthy to stay among the crew he'd grown so close to. If he somehow accomplished that, then he'd worry about the assassins, intergalactic politics, and crazy aliens with weird ideas about human dudes. If nothing else, his life as a freelancer was never dull.

Great outstanding

My New favorite, Im so impressed with this writer and book free lancer 1 and 2 the writers detailed story telling is amazing. Trying to be patient waiting on book 3,4,5 ok you get my meaning. Performance by the story tellers hand down in the Top four best.

Amazing story

Really good story. Narration was amazing, story, romance, and action are well balanced. I could not put this down until I finished it. Can’t wait for the next book.

More fun and adventure for the Kidd and crew. Really enjoyed the MCs growth and the twists and turns. great narration. Recommended you listen.

good... I want the next book.

There are times in the story in the beginning that the MCs thoughts kinda slowed the events happening but that's the only true complaint. The whole book was well acted and preformed by the two narrators and the book flowed great. I liked the dynamics of the characters... in total... it deserves 5 stars. Great book... I just hope it doesn't take months for the next one.

Excellent book two

This second book in this series was every bit as good as the first if not better. I really enjoyed the adventure

not bad

personally I don't this is a bad series. that being said it's a pet peeve of mine that when an author is writing something that's based on the future like this does, it kills the mood for me when you start bringing in modern pop cultural references. I'm sorry but as much as I like Def leopard there's no way people will still know wtf that song is in 600 years. totally kills it for me and this series will only be picked up again when I'm bored and can't find anything else I want to read.

Better than the first book and I really liked that one.

Great follow up book. It continued the major story line are giving us new ones. it also introduced new characters that made the book varied and fun

Book 2 Horrible - Not worth getting wish I could return.
Steadily gets worse and worse and worse.
WTF IS GOING ON WITH THIS PLOT?!?!?!?!?
WHY IS HE STUCK AS A SLAVE IN SOME STUPID CLAN?!?!?!?!
THIS MAKES NOOOOOOOO SENSE WHAT SO EVER IN THIS STORY!!!!!
WTF happened to the plot?! How did it get so side tracked?!
Plot holes everywhere. Nothing makes sense. Horrible writing all around. NOTHING makes sense.
Why have them all decked out and then just have them walk in unarmed?!?!?!
WHY WHY WHY for so many things. Had to stop at Chapter 15. Not into slave labor BS. What a disappointment.
