  • Battle of Gettysburg - 3 Days that Turned the American Civil War - Part 2 We take on one of the most important battles in the history of the United States, as the Confederate Army led by Robert E. Lee marches into Union territory on his way towards Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to try to raid union stores there of food and weapons and cannon and clothing to restock his army. Lee and the Confederates had been on a winning streak, coming off a big win at Chancellorsville on June 3, 1863 and felt that they need to win a battle on union soil to force President Lincoln to the negotiating table. Lee's forward most division led by Henry Heth bumps into Union Brigadier General Buford's 1,500 strong Cavalry unit at the edge of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and day 1 skirmishes ensue. What happens next is 3 days of some of the heaviest fighting of the war and massive casualties on both sides, as well as Lee and the Confederate Army's first loss on the battlefield. In this Part 2 we go over clips from the hit movie 'Gettysburg' where we show scenes from Day 3 on July 3, 1863 and discuss the heavy impact of Pickett's charge on the overall war effort. We take a look at Lee and his Army's retreat from Pennsylvania back to Virginia in a 17-mile wagon trail. We also discuss the 25 Interesting Facts about the Battle at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
