Surviving vs. Thriving: Envisioning Sustainable Futures

  • Summary

  • Reinvention is the lifeblood of festivals, enabling them to thrive in an ever-changing landscape while attracting both new and returning attendees. Joined by the global digital arts and electronic music giant MUTEK, the large-scale desert event focused on community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance, Burning Man, and the largest music festival in Northern Europe, Roskilde Festival, we’ll enquire on how they are envisioning sustainable futures for their events. A presentation of the EU-funded research and development project Digital Inter/Section will bridge the topic and give an overview of arts organisation’s approaches to sustainable practices and business models.

    Speaker*innen:
    Steven Raspa (Burning Man Festival)
Sarah Mackenzie (MUTEK Festival and Forum)
    AC Coppens (THE CATALYSTS)
    Kristine Barenholdt Brunn (Roskilde Festival)
