A top-notch YA Fantasy Adventure!

This is a top-notch YA Fantasy adventure—I LOVED everything about it! The main character, Quinn, is impossible not to like; she’s a fae pirate captain AND heir to the throne in her kingdom, which is one of five fae kingdoms in the realm. She winds up having to compete in a winner-takes-all lethal competition against four other fae rivals. I loved each of the young fae competitors; their characters are well drawn and complement each other in so many ways. They each have a special gift or talent, such as Quinn’s elemental fire magic, which she can’t control and keeps hidden away. The plot flows and twists across all five fae kingdoms as the rivals must compete in five trials for the grand prize: the crown of all Faylan. If you love YA fantasy that’s packed with tricksters, betrayals, battles, mythical creatures, fantastical worlds, romance, found family, and enemies-to-allies, then do yourself a favor and pick up On Wings of Ash and Dust. You won’t be disappointed! I listened to the audiobook, which was beautifully narrated by Talon David.

The characters!!!!!

Honestly, the characters are what sold this book for me. I feel like I personally know each and every one of them.

Wow!!!! I was incredibly blown away by this book. It is one of my new favorite fantasies! The characters, the story and the writing are so captivating you can’t put it down!

I loved the amazing love shared between the characters and the MC drive and strength to preserve. This book has small amounts of romance but it was just enough and so sweet! No spice! :) I will be thinking about this book until the new one comes out!

The narrator was AMAZING! Literally incredible and so immersive! I was so glad I spent a credit on this book.

What a Ride!

I never write reviews, but I'm so excited about this book. I am not much of a reader so I appreciate this audible version.
The story is so captivating. I was hooked from the start and all the way through. I listened to it within a couple days. There are twists and turns that I didn't see coming. The friendships, rivalries, and romance is everything! After listening and re-listening to the story, I researched the author, and she is working on continuing the story, which I am so excited for! But this story also is a great stand alone story that is so intriguing.
I really loved the performance of the voice actor! She really did her best to change her voice for each and every character, and there were quite a few! There were a couple lines I wish were said differently, but that's just me being picky. The overall performance was amazing! I'm so thankful that people put there stories on here for those of us to love stories, but struggle to read.
So if you can't tell, I highly recommend this story!

This story was amazing and twisting right to the very end!! I loved Quinn's character arc and the world building was fantastic without being overwhelming. I can't wait for the next one!!

Such a fun ride!

First off, audio narrator was amazing! Great job!! She really made the story come alive!!

This story had so many intricate twists and turns. When I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong. It was a truly enjoyable read with great world building, interesting characters that I came to love. I understand so many of Quinn’s quirks. So much fun!!!

The concept, storyline, characters an world building are Top Notch. Incredible fantasy read with equally incredible narration.

Technically this account is under my brother but I'm reviewing this as a 30 year old woman who can't get enough fantasy in my life. I saw an Instagram reel for this book while I was taking a break from SJM's series waiting for my sister to catch up. It looked really good and I love everything fae so I bought it on Audible and started reading! I can't say enough good things about this book and this author but I will try!
First thing is that the writing style is so fluid and I didn't find anything to complain about. Brittany's world building and character developments are very well thought out and executed.
Second is that I was a bit wary getting another book solely based on an Instagram reel since the last time I did that I ended up regretting it, BUT this was a wonderful surprise. There is no spice, and a lot of people think that no spice means boring. This book is by no means boring at all. I am a fan of some spiciness 🌶 don't get me wrong, but lately it's just spice for the heck of it and I have to skip scenes to get to the plot. That's annoying. So I really love that the transition from the grit to the sweetness of the rivals to lovers plot really shines through.
I love the adventurous spirit of this book that is masterfully woven with secrets and twists I truthfully did not see coming until revealed in the last portion. And I mean come on... it's pirates AND faeries!!! What more can a girl want? 😍
As for the narration, Talon David is a master of her craft. I usually have little gripes here and there on pronunciations or tones of voice used, but this was absolutely flawless. She gave each character their own little spotlight and it was one of my favorite Audible experiences so far. I can't wait to hear more from her!
To sum it up, as a lover of all things fantasy I ✨HIGHLY✨ recommend this book and following this author for the continuation of this story. I can't wait to get my physical copy to add to my collection! 😁

Great clean fantasy adventure

This book has all the basics I look for in a fantasy series.

Characters wrestling with their morality and ultimately choosing good, a magic system that is not occultish, clean romance without spiciness.

Highly recommend for children and adults who like such things!

Adore this book!

This started out slow. There is a lot of information. But at the same time I never found myself wanting to stop. He story is so good. I didn’t realize how long the book was until I got to chapter 50 but I also was surprised at how I never wanted it to stop. The characters are so good. The emotion is so good. The ending was as heart rate raising as I love and I cannot wait for more!!

Good Character and Plot Development with Surprises and Twists

I enjoyed the unique world building and descriptions, especially of each fae domain. Good character and plot development with some interesting surprises and unexpected twists.

It’s not deep or dark. It’s a fun, humorous, light read. I did get tired of the predictability of the characters but each one did grow as the story progressed. I had difficulties with the narrator and it felt a bit “shrilly” at times but I did appreciate the tempo and the differing voices of the characters.

I definitely look forward to the sequel.
