The slow burn romance also took a big step forward. I did feel like it was a bit "unearned" as I hoped it would be less magical transformation and more Cammie winning Nico over. Even though it was a long shot I was kinda shipping Nico and the princess priestess which as of this book is more or less off the table entirely. I wonder if that was in response to others feeling the same way and the author proactively shutting it down.
Many big reveals and implications that are exciting to see unfold later. One particular thing happened and was never really addressed so I wonder if this is gonna be a thing that'll be ignored until it eventually blows up or becomes relevant.
In any case, the narrator really captures the personality of the characters especially Nico. Generally I prefer dual narration for romance and that doubles when we get actual female POV chapters and there are more interludes with more POVs than ever in this book (or at least it felt that way). With that being said, I really enjoy his performance and there are no flaws to speak of. I'm certainly looking forward to the fourth book.
continues to be a really fun and kinda different story
