Andrew Prince wakes up before everyone else.

He schedules the bar shifts, demands perfection from Long Beach’s lifeguards—most of all himself—and makes sure the family debts are paid. His unfaltering work ethic might leave him exhausted, but it comes with one advantage: it distracts him from the love he’s harbored since childhood for the girl next door, the girl he cannot have.

Jiya Dalal has dreams: to fly a plane, see the world below…and prove irresistible to her best friend, Andrew. But she needs to be a good daughter first, which is becoming increasingly difficult since her parents expect a good marriage, and the man she loves with all her heart refuses to pursue the blistering connection between them. Just when she’s beginning to believe Andrew truly doesn’t want her, a moonlight tryst on the beach exposes his true feelings. But an echo from the past kept them apart before…and it’s only growing louder with every stolen kiss.

Sink or Swim is the third and final book in the Beach Kingdom series but can be listened to as a standalone.

This closure to the series was a sweet ending to a sweet beginning. All three books were phenomenal. Worth every penny and time.

the female narrator seemed good, but I've read 15+ books by Tessa Bailey and loved them. this one was...not her best.
Below are some of the ranting texts I sent before DNFing for maybe my 3rd time ever. it takes a lot but I'm out.
-i feel like this author keeps telling me the FMC is smart instead of showing me. ya know? like every now and then there's a small moment of saying something that should make her seem like an adult but most of the writing makes her seem like a 19yo instead of the 29yo she is
-yeeea these two are for sure not equals in their partnership
- I've read like 20 of her books including the first two in this series and enjoyed them so much but what the f*ck is happening
It's like an erotic fanfic written by a virgin who's never watched porn.
-Ok so I'm listening to an audio book and this took me out of it so bad. "Need you? No, I don't need you. I REQUIRE you" do the kids still say cringe? cuz baby, that's cringe. you sound so f**king dumb right now. Those are synonyms. Not even like different degrees of want/need or whatever. Ugggghh Like I know the brother's supposed to be The Smart One and I can be pretty pedantic but c'mon my guy.
-Especially because the male narrator puts on this weird deeper voice when the character speaks than when we're hearing his internal monologue so it sounds even cheesier with a jump to that voice and these words
-They're hooking up for the first time and it's her actual first time but he didn't know so he's all "oH I ReQuIrE yOu" (ew) and pretty aggressive about it but immediately realizes that she's never done this before because she flinches and is "SO tight" (ew) and he's basically just excited about that because she's untouched and all his (Which seriously, ew.) And then we switch POV and she's all "SeX iS bEtTeR tHaN i ImAgInEd! AnD hE hAsN't EvEn MoVeD yEt!" B*tch what the f*ck are you talking about? this f*cking pig (no offense to actual pigs) just tried to shove a baguette through a keyhole and your like "yay I'm all torn up" what? He should be concerned about the flinch that made him realize she's never done this before. And seriously author. Just f*cking what??
-And the seemingly afterthought of a plot outside of the romance like 'hey were 2/3 of the way through this series, do you think we should add something else that could be happening? sure but let's retcon this with stuff that ABSOLUTELY would have come up more than just the one glimpse of a cop in one scene
I know when reading these contemporary romances the chances of passing the Bechdel test is pretty low, but oof. And Andrew's anger is far from his only red flag.
Now I don't have too much experience with voice acting for someone with an Indian accent so I'll certainly leave that to the experts but I did think the female narrator was pretty good so bumped up the score on that.

Guess we picked Sink?
