Thankful for inspirational reminders to find Joy.

Review by Tiffany Haskard:
"It's not what happens to you in life that determines your future. It is what you decide to do in those moments of struggle."
What a powerful and important reminder to all of us. In this past year and a half, during the pandemic, we have all struggled. This memoir is a sweet, quirky and truly genuine contemplation to see that no matter how bad things seem to be, that a positive outlook, determination to pull through, & embracing the broken road of life can make all the difference. I was truly moved & know that next time I'm struggling... I can think back about what Joy endured and see where she is now. She tells us to remember every moment of life is a blessing, and through life's obstacles, if we stay positive, we can find our JOY.

The Ultimate Inspirational Story! Love you Joy! ❤️

A story about life, the S that happens, and the tremendous ability to overcome no matter the odds. There are twists and turns along Joy's journey that include a-hole ex-boyfriends, supportive ex-boyfriends, dolphins, breaking the law, dreams achieved, dreams lost, cancer, poop, drugs, cookies, drugged cookies, true friendship, true love, phenomenal doctors & nurses, more dolphins, more poop, more love, heartbreak, loss, fairytales, magic, and a large village of friends, family, doctors, nurses and strangers that supported, lifted up, and truly love one of the most special people on earth...JOY!

I'm truly blessed and honored to have met Joy in Spanish class in college in 1994, to have been on most of this journey with her, and to still be close friends today. Love you Joy!

You definitely need the paperback version (available on Amazon) to have on your shelf as a constant reminder of positive mindset, perseverance, love, support, and JOY!

NOTE: this is a great book for anyone recently diagnosed, current under treatment, or survivors looking for hope. I've bought dozens of copies to share the story, maybe you can buy 2. We've all been personally touched, often more than once, by cancer to someone close to us. SPOILER ALERT: This is the one cancer story with a happy ending! 🙌🏽

Joyful

I generally have an issue with some of the narration on Audible but I thought Joy did an wonderful job narrating her own story. You’ll laugh & cry as she takes you on her amazing journey.

Inspirational

When I started this book in my ears, I didn’t think I’d cancel my plans so that I could keep listening. Joy tells a story that is heartbreaking, inspirational, shows the power of the human spirit.

So inspirational

Joy is just the best. The story, the human, the mom, the dolphin trainer, the inspirational speaker. She’s the whole package and I want to be just like her when I grow up. I read this book when it first came out. But the audio book…listening to the emotion in her voice when telling her story….was way better. Every time I think I’m on the wrong road, I will listen to this book and pick myself up, dust myself off and keep going. Thank you God, for Joy.

Fills you with joy

What a beautiful memoir. I smiled a lot & cried plenty too. The importance of a positive attitude during life’s struggles is so important. Joy emits positivity beautifully but also shows it can take effort. Her cancer journey is unique & inspirational. She shows the importance of taking control of your health. How important feeling comfortable with your doctors is and getting second opinions. She takes us on relationship journeys and shows the importance of trusting your gut and waiting for someone who sets your heart on fire and pushes you to be your best! I highly recommend, there’s nothing more special than listening to the book ( especially a memoir ) by the author. What a special gift to hear her voice and feel her emotions throughout the story.
