Somewhere between Scooby Doo and Supernatural. The Road Ghosts Trilogy introduced listeners to E. Chris Garrison, one of speculative fiction’s most gifted voices. Presented here for the first time in a single volume, you’ll meet amateur ghost hunters Brett and Liz, along with their friends Gonzo, Jimbo, and Frannie.

Go along for the ride as the gang chases ghosts, battles demons, ghouls, and stranger things up and down the interstate highways of the Midwest. The Road Ghosts Trilogy spawned several short stories (such as “Spectral Delivery,” included here) and introduces listeners to “Skye” MacLeod, whose adventures continue in Garrison’s popular Tipsy Fairy Tales Series.

This omnibus volume includes:

Four 'til Late (Road Ghosts Trilogy, Book 1): Brett, Gonzo, Jimbo, and Liz embark on a road trip with dangerous detours, dreadful dreams, and dire warnings. Along the way, they discover that some spirits leave you with more than a hangover and regrets. Turn up the radio and get moving, because the road ghosts are waiting.

Sinking Down (Road Ghosts Trilogy, Book 2): Brett and Liz are back in over their heads when a forest hunt for a roadkill-eating creature offers up a ghoulish little surprise. Worse than that, they find that Brett's fate is linked to the creature's.

So, it's back out on the road, with unexpected pit stops with a greedy ex, a convention of ghost hunters, partying with fake vampires, drinking, and fighting alongside Uncle Gonzo.

Includes a bonus short story "Spectral Delivery": Meet Enid, a pizza delivery trainee, who's stuck riding along with ghost-geek Brett on Valentine's Day night. Her boyfriend begs her to try to get off early, but things get weirder and weirder as she and Brett encounter the paranormal at every stop.

Me and the Devil (Road Ghosts Trilogy, Book 3): Brett, Liz, and Gonzo undertake a difficult three-night webcast leading up to Halloween. If they’re successful, they may finally get the recognition Brett seeks.

Let me just start by saying I was looking forward to listening to this book. From both the description and the cover image, I had assumed this was going to be some sort of combination of Ghostbusters and The Witcher, with maybe a drop of Guardians of the Galaxy thrown in. That being said, I DID listen to the whole thing, and it's not bad. It just wasn't what I was looking for. Most of the dialogue consists of small talk, with people acting far too chill for things occurring to and around them. As for the action, it's more like re-action, as most of the time the group is just reacting to things that are done to them. The narrator does a decent job for the most part, considering what he has to work with. If you're looking for a slightly more mature version of the Scooby Gang (minus the dog), you'll probably enjoy this. As for me, it just wasn't what I was looking for.

Not what I was expecting...

My wife and I only got through the first of three stories. It was draggy but okay. The tension one expects in a ghost story was lost with all the fluff.

I loved this collection. It's 3 full lengths and one bonus story. I was hooked from the beginning. Brett and his friends set out to go on a road trip to party and have fun. They find themselves in a full paranormal adventure. It's not just that, it's also Brett healing from losing his fiancé years before and also missing his ex Liz, who is with them. As they reconnect, they are also battling demons and Brett himself. I love how it started as Brett just living a boring normal life to Brett live streaming ghost hunts. It was a blast the whole time. A wild ride. And this narrator did an amazing job. I forgot he was one person! Made this story even more of a thriller. A must/read listen for paranormal fans.

This collection of three plus a novella is a really damn fun ride with a sincere team of supernatural hunters that blends joy, some scares and more. The books were a damn fun and fantastic listen. It had that great feel to it and the narration was engrossing! I really appreciated the emotional depth without being whiny (as I've experienced with other narrators) and the humor was epic.
