He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him “the bitter neighbor from hell”. Fredrik Backman’s novel about the angry old man next door is a thoughtful exploration of the profound impact one life has on countless others.

Not the Story you are expecting by the Title
George Saoulidis has really been turning out some impressive work lately. I loved his Too Many Friends story, and now this. I'm going to be honest. I have seen the Scrooge story told in a hundred different ways with Henry Winkler, Mr. Magoo, and Murray being just a handful of actors to take one the role. There is even a female version. Patrick Stewart generally rocks out the classic story, but even that is not something that I've enjoyed in a while. So, it is safe to say that I am a little jaded when it comes to Mr. Scrooge.
Now, George Saoulidis gives us his own retelling with the ghosts being taxi drivers, and I have to say this was a refreshing take. I enjoyed listening and would suggest that you do the same. This is a great take on a worn out story. He has breathed new life into this tale, and God Bless him for it.
Steve White does a great job narrating, he plays the ghosts wonderfully. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

The taxi ride from...you get the idea
Charles Dickens's Christmas classic has been told in a hundred different ways; in fact, its very adaptability is the mark of a true classic. In this version, Scrooge's ghosts are Greek taxi drivers in modern-day Athens--a situation sure to draw a smile from anyone who's ever been trapped in a taxi at the mercy of a driver with an apparent death wish--and his Bob Cratchit is a struggling single mom. It's a clever twist, and the narration is very good. Unfortunately, Scrooge's change of heart at the end lacked the emotional payoff we've come to expect. It was a pleasurable short listen, but I doubt I'll revisit it, since there are more satisfying versions out there.

strange version of scrooge, a good listen
I just loved this audio book from scrooge being scrooge to the different taxi drivers. the only part is it ended to fast for my liking. George Saoulidis as the writer did an amazing job with scrooge life and let's talk about Steve White as narrator I will search for books with him narrating from now on.
I gave 5s across the board I feel that if anyone wants a different read this is the book.

The modern Scrooge...
The Impossible Quest of Hailing a Taxi on Christmas Eve by George Saoulidis and narrated by Steve White is a good retelling of the classic Scrooge tale. If you’re tired of the typical Christmas story and looking for something fresh with tech and Greek gods, give this one a listen. The narrator, Steve White, did a good job.
“No talking necessary. Scrooge loved it. But now, he had to call up a phone, wait in line, talk to an operator, like Neanderthals. The horror.”
“Money is not all there is in this life. The truly precious stuff can’t be bought.”

Great modern redo
This is the third book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. This is an interesting spinoff of the classic A Christmas Carol. I liked the three taxi rides and modern twists. Very entertaining.
This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Steve White ). He has a variety of character voices in his repertoire- each with their own expression. He does quite well reading this book. His style did not immerse me in the book...I still realized I was being read to, yet it works for this book.
There are no explicit sex scenes, or excessive violence. There is the very occasional swearing.

A Fun Take on an Old Classic
The Impossible Quest of Hailing a Taxi on Christmas Eve was a cute story. It was fun and light in a steampunk cyber punk kinda way. This was an overall great short with neat characters and of course Scrooge. I enjoyed it.
Steve White's reading of this story was amazing. He gave fun voices to the characters which enhanced the story. This was a perfect pairing with story and narrator.

Either listen to or read it today - you won't regret it!
I really enjoyed this short story, which is based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, but set in the modern world. I liked the way it had been adapted and brought up to date - the use of an Uber-type Taxi as the method by which Scrooge is chauffeured was great, and I loved that the actual car was appropriate to the 'ghost' - classic for past, futuristic self-driving for future etc. Touches like this were, in my view, what elevated the story from good to excellent.
I listened to the audiobook version of the story (on Christmas Eve, of course!), which was excellently narrated by Steve White. He really brought the story to life with his fabulous voices for the characters, and his vibrancy of storytelling: he enjoyed telling it, so I enjoyed listening to it.
I'd definitely recommend listening to the story if you can, you'll definitely love it. But whether you listen or read it, please add this book to your library today - you won't regret it!
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions
