Jane Austen
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.
In Pride and Prejudice, the Bennet sisters try to find their way in the repressive strictures of 19th-century society. Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and the experience of falling in love, and she superbly describes a world which, despite being more than two centuries old, still resonates with modern concerns.

Where does Pride and Prejudice rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Quite highly. I loved Rosamund Pike's narration. She added a richness to the story that only added to the timelessness of the novel.Who was your favorite character and why?
Elizabeth Bennett (obviously). She was strong and independent for a woman of the time. She was ruled by no one. I admire a strong woman in a classic novel. What does Rosamund Pike bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Pike played Jane Bennett in the last film adaption of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. So I found that her narration was a bridge that brought the novel and the film together. Had I read the novel rather than listen, I believe it would feel apart from the film. Pike felt like a dear friend telling me the story that I love oh-so-much.If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Well, I wouldn't, because the last two adaptions were perfect.Any additional comments?
I'm really, really pleased that Pike narrated the novel. I don't think I could have heard it any other way.Pike brings to life a timeless classic

I've read this as a physical book, but I would also REALLY love to recommend the audiobook, narrated by Rosamund Pike. Lady knows how to narrate! Each character has a distinctive voice, and it was probably some of the most enjoyable ten-or-so hours I've spent listening to another person talk nonstop at me. You get an O for Outstanding, Rosamund Pike.
Excellent update on a classic
