Athas, world of the dark sun: Ruled for thousands of years by power-mad sorcerer-kings, its cities have become vile centers of slavery and corruption. Only heroes of the greatest strength and bravest heart can stand against the might of these overlords. The Prism Pentad is a tale of such heroes.

Rajaat, the First Sorcerer, betrayed by his champions at the moment of his paramount victory, has been imprisoned beyond space and time, but he alone can return Athas to its verdant splendor.

Any additional comments?

A wonderful introduction the world of Athas. All five of Denning's books, read by the talented Ray Porter do a good job of wetting your appetite for the world. Sadly, the other eight books in the older Dark Sun series have yet to be released on Audible. I recommend that fans of the series, old and new, get these audio editions. Hopefully it will encourage WotC and Audible to release the remaining books, and have readers as talented as Mr. Porter.

Concluding a good Introduction

Good book not as good as the first but very enjoyable. The narrator is fantastic as usual. SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT! My only complaint is that the big baddie at the end is defeated to easily. You hear about him for two or three books and then when he finally gets here he is just taken care of too easily and conveniently my opinion. Other than that a fantastic listen!

Good conclusion to the series

great story, easy listening, but hearing Mr Porter mispronounce "chitenous" a thousand times was annoying

loved it, but

Every single time I listen to this series it always startles me as to how visceral hatred I have towards Tithian of Tyr, and yet I find myself rooting for him every so often. Denning does a really incredible job of making him a believable and flawed villain.

Some of Denning's best

I didn’t leave review for the other four books in the series, and figured this is a fitting place to put one since they are all continuations. I’d come to this hoping for a bit of the Robert E Howard gritty Conan feel, especially after having played the first PC title in the old Dark Sun series.

This was a great long journey with characters I enjoyed and, similarly to Game of Thrones, you never quite know who’s gonna make it through. The series concludes in a fitting & satisfactory manner, and so I heartily recommend all five books!

Amazing series, and wonderfully-read.
