The bestselling science fiction series of all time continues! Frank Herbert's second installment explores new developments on the desert planet Arrakis, with its intricate social order and its strange threatening environment. Dune Messiah picks up the story of the man known as Maud'dib, heir to a power unimaginable, bringing to fruition an ambition of unparalleled scale: the centuries-old scheme to create a superbeing who reigns not in the heavens but among men. But the question is: Do all paths of glory lead to the grave?

The new Dune movie is based on the classic sci fi novel, the first book in an extensive series launched by author Frank Herbert and kept going by writers who took up the helm after his death. The trailer for the upcoming film was released last fall, and since then, speculation and excitement have been swirling around the movie. At three minutes long, the trailer itself is a beautiful masterpiece, and it teases many of the important characters and aspects from the story. This post will give you a basic understanding of the book, its history, and everything you need to know about Dune to get you ready for the movie!

I loved the first book, it was consistent and occasionally had voice actors and other times was just the reader. this book has entire chapter with different narrorators. that really threw me off. story turned out to be good but I missed alot from being distracted by the changing voices.

what's up with changing readers?

The story is great but I loathe abridged stories because you miss so much of the story. The book fits nicely in the saga and I would recommend it after reading it's prequels

I dislike abridged

I took a long time to finish Dune as I didn’t have much time nor the mental fortitude to look at such a large book and imagine finishing it - I am so glad that I did so that I was able to experience this audiobook the way that I have. What an amazing story and a fantastic performance. Finished this audiobook in a day and a half I could not stop listening. Thank you.

Unbelievable

The storyline and audio performance was good but there were times when the monologs would drag on and become preachy. Some like that but I don't have the attention span for a page and a half of character internal monolog. Good story, just long.

Good but Prechy
