Small snippets of a large universe.

It was nice to hear these little between stories and run offs of the other larger volumes. I will look and hope there are others. As in other sci fi, there are fan based stories.

Every story left me wanting more.

I wish each of these stories could have been longer because they all left me wanting more. It was a treat to return to the story world of Dune.

Important to Know

I love Dune the book by Frank and the movie (who doesn’t enjoy Sting) however it’s important to know that what has happened in the prequel is absolute in perfection. I simply believe that the thought of what was possible when Frank wrote his book was simply not enough. His son has done a near perfect job of bringing the realm of possibilities in SI-FI into a story that is and always will be a glimpse into the unknown universe.

The stories must flow.

I was transported back into the world of Dune...loved it and enjoyed the journey. Looking forward to more.

Perfect for the Dune Lover

I put off getting this book because of how short it was but finally getting it I’m happy I did. The stories are really insightful and worth listening to.

Excellent extras

These short stories are excellent additions to the dune mythos. Especially helpful is the chronology and the notes before each story to help place it in the proper sequence of events. A must for dune fans.

Little Gems

This provides bite-sized vignettes of the Dune Universe. Each are character-building when main characters appear. Others are expansions of minor characters or just world building. But because they are short stories, the details are rich and the depth of meaning easier to appreciate. As stated in my title, little gems.

Great conclusion to the Dune series!

Once you’ve read the expanded Dune universe books (hopefully in their chronological order) the stories contained here provide the final details you want to have. Better yet, see various internet postings as to where these short stories belong and insert them into your in-depth reading as you go, so they are in full context of your reading enjoyment.

Averages Out

Some stories in this book are better than the others, although my review is influenced by the fact that I was craving some sci-fi after finishing a series of very mediocre books. So in one sense I was satisfied just being in the "Dune Universe", but unless you are in the same situation Iʻm in, I canʻt give this a strong recommendation. I suppose the premise of the book was to whet oneʻs appetite for more Dune stories and in a sense I think it accomplished that, but the narrator is not someone I could listen to for long stretches. I read some of Brian Herbert and Kevin Andersonʻs Dune novels and I liked them but I donʻt think I can handle the audio versions with the present narrator.
