Publisher's Summary

The epic conclusion of the Tarot series!

A crippling wound. A war looming on the horizon. A demon king to kill.

Finn and his companions barely escaped their encounter with Bilel. But not without a cost - including the loss of Finn's left arm and the magical corruption that now plagues his body.

Despite those handicaps, Finn must keep pressing forward if he is to have any hope of bringing Rachael back. As the Seer predicted, the guilds and Khamsin have formed a fragile alliance. But before they can lay siege to Lahab, Finn and his companions must first find a way to defend themselves and their fledgling army from the effects of the god relic that Bilel now wields....

Which will send them deep into the heart of an ancient workshop. Along the way, they'll encounter advanced magical technology, new friends and foes, and will be pushed well beyond their limits. They will be reforged in the fires of adversity - forced to prove their mettle, even with the odds stacked against them.

Hopefully, it will be enough.

Because soon they will face a demon king and his armies.

I was so surprised at the change!

I was so upset at book two, I didn't rate it very well at all due to all the drama, pity boo hoo's and 12 hours of ants. BUT This book did a 180! There is NO "boo hoo feel soory for me", the encounters and dungeon is interesting, not boring, and doesn't last forever. I loved everything about this book. Maybe the author read the reviews about the second book or w/e but this book goes back to the greatness of the first book and I am SO glad that I pressed the purchase button! I can't believe it. The first time I've seen an author listen to the reviews. If you were on the fence because of book two, then let this tilt you in the right direction. Buy and read this book. Nothing bad from book two followed into this one.

Main Jason story is much, much better.

Story was ok, but i feel the main stories following jason are much, much better, and im getting tired of this slog of mediocre side stories.

BORING!!!!!!!

I like all the awaken online series, but not this one. Overpower side kick AI who can do lots of thing and slow progression story. This book feels rush and wanting to end.

Charactor growth and story progress at a snail pace and ending was a letdown. Thank god Travis ended this series and can start focus on the main plot. Not his best series and work.

Not as good as the 1st book.

Both the 2nd and 3rd books of this series seriously drag. I am a huge Travis Bagwell fan. I absolutely loved the 1st book in this series as well as the original Awaken Online series. I don't need non-stop action. But the characters and plot are progressing so slowly.

Lots of “reflection”

Sometimes I tuned out for 30 minutes, zoned back in and there was so much self reflection of the main character that honestly i didn’t need to go back as the story hadn’t moved on. Overall a good book though.

Meh

Struggled a bit with this side series. Ghostwriter maybe? I'm looking forward to getting back to the main storyline.

Much better than book 2

Book 3 delivers action and story telling more closely aligned to the parent Awaken Online series, which is welcome news given book 2 was so slow and drawn out. Book 3 is a great conclusion to the initial Tarot series storyline and is well positioned to be brought in to the original and larger Awaken Online world. Overall, the Tarot series is well written and thought out. I've really enjoyed the new AI components in the form of familiars and look forward to more adventures in the series.

Had an abbreviated version of the drag from book 2

Overall, it was a good book. However, like in book 2, the dungeon was a real drag. It was much shorter than in book 2, I'll give you that.

I just don't appreciate the EXTREMELY long explanations of the puzzles they are facing, their thought processes, their summing up of what they just talked about and the intricate details of the systems at play in the dungeon. Holy hell. Yes, I understand the dungeon was complicated in its own way, but we don't need to know how much it's like tracing wiring on a circuit board just to open a door. I felt like I was reading a manual for a motherboard or a new Raspberry Pi.

Outside of the dungeon, though, the book wasn't bad. It pales in comparison to the first book, however. The events that actually transpire in the story from book one to the end of book three is great, but overall, Finn and crew are much less entertaining than Jason and his people. If it turns out Jason turns Finn into bone coat hangers for his closet, I won't be sad about it.

the plot thickness.

I am more a fan of the main story but the world building and the implications in this book were really enjoyable, I look forward to see ware the story goes from here.

of the avatars we have seen i do find fin to be the most interesting as his goals have much higher stakes then most.

another cracking book by Travis Bagwell.

I absolutely loved the book and a great ending for the trilogy. it fits seamlessly into the larger world he has created. I cannot wait to see how the saga continues on.
