Publisher's Summary

The epic conclusion of the Tarot series!

A crippling wound. A war looming on the horizon. A demon king to kill.

Finn and his companions barely escaped their encounter with Bilel. But not without a cost - including the loss of Finn's left arm and the magical corruption that now plagues his body.

Despite those handicaps, Finn must keep pressing forward if he is to have any hope of bringing Rachael back. As the Seer predicted, the guilds and Khamsin have formed a fragile alliance. But before they can lay siege to Lahab, Finn and his companions must first find a way to defend themselves and their fledgling army from the effects of the god relic that Bilel now wields....

Which will send them deep into the heart of an ancient workshop. Along the way, they'll encounter advanced magical technology, new friends and foes, and will be pushed well beyond their limits. They will be reforged in the fires of adversity - forced to prove their mettle, even with the odds stacked against them.

Hopefully, it will be enough.

Because soon they will face a demon king and his armies.

I was so surprised at the change!

I was so upset at book two, I didn't rate it very well at all due to all the drama, pity boo hoo's and 12 hours of ants. BUT This book did a 180! There is NO "boo hoo feel soory for me", the encounters and dungeon is interesting, not boring, and doesn't last forever. I loved everything about this book. Maybe the author read the reviews about the second book or w/e but this book goes back to the greatness of the first book and I am SO glad that I pressed the purchase button! I can't believe it. The first time I've seen an author listen to the reviews. If you were on the fence because of book two, then let this tilt you in the right direction. Buy and read this book. Nothing bad from book two followed into this one.

Main Jason story is much, much better.

Story was ok, but i feel the main stories following jason are much, much better, and im getting tired of this slog of mediocre side stories.

Not as good as the 1st book.

Both the 2nd and 3rd books of this series seriously drag. I am a huge Travis Bagwell fan. I absolutely loved the 1st book in this series as well as the original Awaken Online series. I don't need non-stop action. But the characters and plot are progressing so slowly.

BORING!!!!!!!

I like all the awaken online series, but not this one. Overpower side kick AI who can do lots of thing and slow progression story. This book feels rush and wanting to end.

Charactor growth and story progress at a snail pace and ending was a letdown. Thank god Travis ended this series and can start focus on the main plot. Not his best series and work.

Lots of “reflection”

Sometimes I tuned out for 30 minutes, zoned back in and there was so much self reflection of the main character that honestly i didn’t need to go back as the story hadn’t moved on. Overall a good book though.

Meh

Struggled a bit with this side series. Ghostwriter maybe? I'm looking forward to getting back to the main storyline.

Not getting any better.

I kept hoping this spinoff series would improve. I really like the original awaken online series but this one really doesn't work all that well. It seems like it's trying to be a pale imitation of Dune with a little Aladin thrown in for kicks. I rapidly lost interest and really struggled to finish this installment. Glad it's the last in the series.
I think Stifel is a pretty average narrator. He's generally OK but mostly just seems like he's reading cold with very little prep. It often seems like he realizes the intended tone of a sentence only halfway through reading it. This leads to strange inflections which are mildly off-putting. It may have something to do with having to speed the narration up by 75% because he's so slooooow.

Repetitive

I really liked the series with Jason. the first two books in this series were OK. But this book felt like a chore to finish. It's a repetitive story line with Finn facing impossible odds where he miraculously knows the perfect plan and comes through again and again. I prefer quality over quantity!

Endless Motonony

This book's content eventually ends up bleeding together into an endless monotone of navigating a dungeon. Without it, its an hour or two of actual story. The last book had some of this. I REALLY hope Hellion (the next) doesn't.

DNF

The butchery of English grammar in this book is diabolical. How hard is it to keep past and present tenses straight? The author shifts between past and present tense every 2-5 sentences at the best of times. He changes within the same sentence at the worst. What an affront to the English language!

The story might have been okay if Bagwell had command over at least secondary school grammar, but he doesn't. It bothered me to the point where I couldn't even make it through 50% of this book. This is the last of his books I will purchase.

the plot thickness.

I am more a fan of the main story but the world building and the implications in this book were really enjoyable, I look forward to see ware the story goes from here.

of the avatars we have seen i do find fin to be the most interesting as his goals have much higher stakes then most.

another cracking book by Travis Bagwell.

I absolutely loved the book and a great ending for the trilogy. it fits seamlessly into the larger world he has created. I cannot wait to see how the saga continues on.

Good side story

I really enjoyed this side series. I’m glad I read it before last books in main series as the end of this ties in well with events in main storyline. Gives some great world depth and more information overall. I really recommend reading this side series after book 4.5 (Unity)
