Mastering the Art of Survival

I just finished up Assassin’s Apprentice by Scott Baron, expertly narrated by Eric Bryan Moore. From the very start, I found myself swept up in the gripping tale of Bawb, a young man navigating the perilous world of elite assassins. This is the second book in the Bawb series and boy was it a doozy. Having followed this universe for some time now, I thought I knew what to expect. However, Scott Baron once again exceeded my expectations, drawing me deeper into the multiverse he’s crafted with such skill and creativity.

The story follows Bawb as he transitions from a struggling trainee to a formidable contender within his order. The stakes are high, and the challenges he faces are nothing short of daunting. Each task is more intense than the last, filled with nail-biting tension and moments that left me holding my breath. What truly stood out to me was Bawb’s relentless determination to excel, fueled by the guidance of one of the galaxy’s greatest assassins. This dynamic mentor-student relationship added a rich layer to the narrative, making Bawb’s journey not just about survival but also about growth and self-discovery. (I won’t spoil it, but there was a VERY comical scene where Bawb ranks up quite a bit in one “session”).

What I particularly love about this audiobook is how Eric Bryan Moore brings Bawb’s world to life with his engaging narration. His voice perfectly captures the nuances of each character, adding depth and emotion to every scene. The interactions between Bawb and his Draconis are a highlight, providing perfectly timed comic relief amidst the intense moments. The Draconis, with its cheeky remarks and unexpected humor, offers a delightful contrast to the serious undertone of the story, reminding us that even in the face of danger, laughter can be a powerful ally.

In Assassin’s Apprentice, Scott Baron has once again proven his mastery in storytelling, weaving a tale that is as heartwarming as it is thrilling. If you’ve enjoyed Baron’s previous works, this latest installment is sure to delight and surprise you. can't put it down

Thanks so much for another wonderful story. Getting such a great backstory on these characters and seeing where they earned their grit makes me fall in love with the whole Charlieverse all over again. keeps the reader engaged and wanting more.

Delightful romp

Once again, Baron gives us a great little adventure. I love the teachers, I love the throwbacks to Space Assassins, I love the wholesomeness nestled in the setting of violence. Little bit wishy washy with continuity, but forgivably so.

Bawb is awesome!

All the character development and backstories are a great addition, and add to the Charlie's story.

I'm really digging the backstory.

The story continues with Bawb growing into the character I've enjoyed for a while. The second book builds where the first book left off, Bawb's drive to become greater.
The story has touched many of my emotions. The narrator brings the characters to life.
I look forward to the audio of book 3.

Damn good book

The only problem is that I have to wait for the next one to come to audible, I'll listen to it day 1 just like this one, can't wait

loved it minus certain parts

Wanna preface by saying that I absolutely loved this book! only an hour left and it's been a Rollercoaster of thrill. My only issue came with the quite strange inclusion and management of "sex", like I get it that it's a skill to learn but the way it was handled was just strange to me. the random inclusions of it as well as the way it was all together introduced and handled was quite uncomfortable to read and hear. outside of that though I loved the book and I look forward to buying the next one in an hours time.

Really great story, and I really like the characters

The main character, Bawb, moving through his progression as an assassin is told very well. Being in the service, I’ve had a lot of friends & acquaintances go through Special Forces training, and while the skills learned in the book are vastly different, the manner in which they’re taught is similar enough to how things are taught, and then drilled. Great job by the author.

Exciting

The Bawb series was an emotional roller coaster for someone who has read the “Space Assassins” series and the “Bad Luck Charlie” series. For readers that haven’t, this series will open to door to a fantastic universe I haven’t seen the likes of in any other fictional works! I would however recommend the “Space Assassins” books before this series as they lend a lot of character development and backstory to the Bawb series as well as emotional attachment to those characters. Well done, absolutely well done.
