Publisher's summary

The music of Frank Sinatra, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and many other artists provides the score to the reflections of a musician on the road in this memoir of Neil Peart's travels from Los Angeles to Big Bend National Park. The emotional associations and stories behind each album Peart plays guide his recollections of his childhood on Lake Ontario, the first bands that he performed with, and his travels with the band Rush. The evocative and resonant writing vividly captures the meanderings of a musical mind, leading rock enthusiasts to discover inside information about Rush and the musical inspirations of a rock legend.

Travel reading excellence

Wow, besides all the great stories Rush fans will enjoy, the book stands out in describing different trips one might like to take and provides many suggestions for music one can listen to along the way. Peart's writing style is easy but informative and Sutherland's audio delivery is smooth and captivating.

Incredibly relevant and endearing to any fan.

To quote Paul McCartney, "what's not to love? ". I love Neil's non linear style. It's difficult to turn it off. It's very much like a twisting road - no idea what's around the next corner, but it's sure to be worth continuing. It's as addicting as listening to Moving Pictures and it easily fills in many of the blanks that I've always been curious about. Thanks for sharing, Neil.

Sublime Storytelling

So much better than a chance encounter and cheesy awkward selfie with a celebrity. Insightful without unnecessary melodramatic revelations, overall just delightful.

Excellent if you can get past Narrator!

Neil Peart has always been a mystery, but this unravels much of the mystery. The Narrator is AWFUL! Would love to have had Neil read his story. America lost one of the best. Rest in Peace. Am thankful I saw you play!

Narration

I have begun to really like this narrator, he does an excellent job with just the right amount of reserve in his voice and timber. He even tends to sound a little bit like the author which I’ve heard on YouTube many times. He portrays the story line as a very comfortable relaxing exposition of what I believe the author intended. I have a very positive response to this narrator and I will proceed to read other books that he narrates😎‼️

A history lesson on music

Neil Peart's love and knowledge of music took me down memory lane. He was only one year older than me and I live in California. So I really connected with much of this book. His story telling of his bike tours in Africa are written so well, I feel as if I experienced the trip myself. It was the same when I read Masked Rider.

A Mellow Look at Neil’s Heart

So cool that this book was included in subscription. I thought it was a really nice portrayal of a celebration Ty who never sought the “Limelight.” Smart, hard-working, honest - those who knew him well were incredibly fortunate. Rest In Peace…

I love Neil's books

it feels like I'm riding shotgun with Neil After reading a couple other of his books it made this on so much fun. basically listening to Neil think. this was such a cool book. being a road tripper adventurist and a motorcycle rider made this book even more special, has all his books to.
