Publisher's Summary

Everyone needs a hero.

That's what Detective Molly Masters tells me. "What we need," she says, "what the whole world needs," she pleads, "is a champion."

The only thing I want to talk about with Molly Masters is how I'd like to make her scream my name when I push her up against a wall, slide my hand up her thigh, and live out my wildest fantasies.

"Someone who will fight against injustice," she says.

I'll fight against anything you want, honey. Just come a little closer.

"Someone who will stand tall in the face of adversity," she says.

I'll do it standing, sitting, or lying down. See how easy I am?

"Someone who believes in the value of a good deed," she says.

I believe in the value of me, sweetheart. Because I'm Lincoln Wade. Jaded genius, obscenely wealthy, capable of violence, and looking for revenge.

Molly Masters might have delusions of grandeur. She might see me as some superman capable of cleaning up the scum, filth, and corruption in Cathedral City.

But I'm not the hero she's looking for.

I'm the dark alley where all her good intentions hide.

So be careful what you wish for, Molly Masters.

Because you're about to get it.

NICE.. HOT ALPHA SUPER-HEROES ON STEROIDS

Another unique action-packed listen from JA Huss that tells of super heroes.. or super villains depending on your take, who battle one particular evil megalomaniac who once tried to create his own personal army of 'altered' humans. Children stolen, bartered, bought or created for the sole purpose of transforming them into weapons that could be controlled. A corrupt Corporation.. one man sits at the top of his evil empire.. and three men plan vengeance, revenge and his total destruction.

This is the story of the three Alphas who got away.. the friendships they made, the tenuous bond they share, their strengths and weaknesses, their powers, the female Omegas that could destroy them and the wealth of achievements they created for one purpose only.. to annihilate everyone responsible for their transformations. There's world-building in the plot as it hones in on one particular Alpha.. Lincoln Wade - a rich sexy dirty talking jaded genius who holds some impressive powers and how his plans for revenge goes off course when feisty Detective Molly Masters arrives on the scene. When Bike Boy meets Gun Girl.. when Molly discovers and uncovers much more than clues as she investigates suspicious serial suicides.

This story played out very much like a very hot version of Marvel's Comic Book stories because these Alpha heroes are v e r y Alpha and 'altered'. Yes, I liked and enjoyed the story.. but sadly I just didn't love it.. and I love love love Superheroes. This had a good start - the intrigue, surprise and suspense was there.. but I missed the build-up and the romance elements to the story. The possessive sexy Biker-style hero (or anti-hero) was great and so was his two accomplices.. well Shiela, Lincoln's female hologram virtual assistant, makes three and she nearly stole the show. Everything in this dual POV story takes place over a couple of weeks.. although the pawns and the players have been known to each other for fifteen years. There were h o t sex scenes.. and not everything went to plan of course with twists and revelations.. and the final battle between good vs. evil was intense and had its climactic challenges. I could see this making a half decent film.. given the right actors and special effects of course! Narration was great.. well it's a partnership with Sebastian York - so enough said.

Worth a credit? If you like the super-hero on steroids type genre then you're going to love this.. everyone else stay away - especially anyone looking for a realistic or plausible plot. As I said, I enjoyed it, I definitely won't be sending it back and I'll probably get the next book in the series too.. but sorry you'll have to decide if this is worth one of YOUR credits.

Not into the anal sex

The story was kinda interesting, but pretty much every plot point was a rip off from a superhero movie. I would have stuck with it, I do like a sexy scene with a sci fi edge, but once the anus licking and anal sex started I was done. Does no one think of the gastroenteritis infection that follows from licking an anus? Unprotected sex as well is an issue, didn’t seem like these guys were ready to be parents.

Psychopathic Behavior disguesd as an Anti-hero

The male character is a psycho path with ODD and narsasitic personality disorder. He justifes it sexual assault, physical assult, restraint by drugging, property damage, defamation of character, and violating personal privacy as a means to protect himself. No amount of childhood abuse or loss justifies making any of those actions "ok".
Can we please stop making "dominate" males as rapest psycho paths? You can be dominate, without sexually assaulting others. I understand that characters who are the "anti-hero" do bad things but why resort to rape and emotional abuse if he's supose to be the good guy in the end?
Main female character: Has all this capable tough upbringing and credible career credentials yet she's just written very weak. Having a tough female character then anyalating her toughness by being easily pushed over by the main male character just destroys any integrity of the personification you introduced the character as. This author states several time the Female character has all sorts of combat/field experience yet the author keeps degrading it. Yes people can be vulnerable but the author never gave the female any present proof, only back story... come on!! I didn't finish this book as the sex scene in the garden laybrenth was way too coercive manipulation and very rapey for me... consent under duress is not consent.
If you wanted to write how a psycho path finds his victims and exploits them then at least be committed to that as the main plot. Don't try to make it flowery by disguising it as a consensual "anti-hero" romance....

Great story, but...

The main story line of this book was intriguing. I look forward to book two because I appreciate a good sci-fi. At the same time I am a total fan of hot sexy scenes, but the sex in this story is weird and unbelievable - gratuitous. It felt like it was just thrown in so this book could be sold in the romance genre. I didn’t believe it for a second and even felt an “ick” factor from the sex scenes. Oh well. I’ll read book two because now I have to see how the story will play out. Good audio performance.

YAY!!! A New Series From JA Huss!!

Whenever I see that a new book has come out on Audible by JA Huss...I'm excited and it's a no-brainer one click. And it's a bonus when it's the first in a series because I know there are more coming with these characters!

As usual...Julie's brain amazes me...how does she come up with these stories? That's the best thing about her books...while in the romance genre...they are always FILLED with plots twists, excellent characters and sex...but definitely not your typical ho-hum romance.

SebYo is awesome as always and loved Anna Riordan as Molly.

Can't wait for Anarchy Missing!

Narrations made it!

Really good book. Went fast. I don't normally go for the "syfy" genre but this wasn't over the top and was well written.

Confusing, unlikable characters.

Terrible dialog. The narrators did their best, but you know what they say. Garbage in, garbage out.

Work for it

Huss really makes us work to comprehend the clues and assemble the puzzle in her books. There is the constant theme of abused children, in a substrate or program. Is this girl from the burnt house in Wasted Lust? Or was she rescued from the compound in 321? Lincoln is Ark. As the book is a puzzle, you bypass all the usual nonsense, tedium, plot flaws or drollness in most books, so that when you get to the end, you feel you have achieved something, found the aim or goal (hopefully) in the middle of the maze. Or maybe not, as this is only Book 1 of a series. CLEVER AND ENJOYABLE

I am in love with supervillains

Heroes are always painted as the good guys. Lincoln Wade is not a superhero at least that is what he tells himself and what he wants Molly Masters to believe. He is a jaded genius with a big plan for revenge. He is obscenely wealthy and did I mention he was jaded? He needs to find that someone, as does Molly. They find each other but Molly doesn't remember. Lincoln does and he fights it but how long will he last?

Cathedral City is corrupt. Lincoln and his friends want to set it straight but not the way you may imagine.

JA Huss is a fantastic author, her words are gripping, her storylines tight, there is action, there is passion, there is simply a stunning story with the best narrators and this is just book 1.

I couldn’t get into it

I received this on audible as part of my membership package and I was so excited to listen. After all I love Sebastian York, and yes he plays the part well, as does Anna Riordan. In fact the narration was probably the best part of this book as I just couldn’t get into the story. It didn’t grip me from the start, and I wasn’t particularly invested throughout. Molly Masters came across as weak, and as a supposed lead detective in the police force she was naive and, quite honestly, a little slow on the uptake. She let all the men in her life walk all over her. The synopsis was intriguing, I normally love antiheroes, and Lincoln Wade had so much potential. Sadly he fell flat for me. I struggled to finish to be honest. Very disappointing.

good male & female narrators

story kept me on my toes even if the romance was a little forced? it only felt forced after it naturally blossomed a little bit so it was still good.
