Publisher's Summary

A wild, dangerous love

Amelia Howard cherishes her desert country. The dazzling colors, white heat, and rough sensuality of west Texas stir her very soul. But there's a serpent in her paradise: King Culhane. A towering sunburned cowboy with silver eyes that miss nothing, he's a man she's come to despise - no matter how much she had worshiped him when she was younger.

As her father pushes her to secure a marriage proposal from King's mild-mannered brother in order to marry into the Culhane dynasty, Amelia assumes the mask of a demure young lady, always correct and obedient. It's a posture that King holds in contempt. Yet when she reveals the true force of her feelings, she unleashes a smoldering passion that cannot be denied. And everything - propriety, filial duty, even love - will be scorched in the wake of such all-consuming desire.

The reader is horrible

I love Diana Palmer and this story it’s wonderful but the reader is awful. The reader has a deep voice and it is hard to understand what he is saying at times. You really have to listen to what he is saying

Surprised to see people didn't like the narration

Dawson Mcbride is truly one of my favorite narrator's. I had no issues with understanding him. I agree he has a deep voice but feel he does all of the characters justice. I had a bit of trouble with the hero in this book. Putting it bluntly he's a jerk most of the book. I settled on, "proof there is someone out there for everyone." A lot of sad in the book but does have a good ending. It is definitely worth a listen.

Narrator

Worst reading that I have ever listened to. I almost did not listen to the book.

good book but needs different narrator

I have loved this book since I have read it but the narrator who is reading it has too deep a voice for it. I think it should have been read by a woman instead. If there is a way to have a different person reading it would be a better story to listen to. This narrator sounds the same for every person in the book his voice doesn't change when a woman is talking. Is a woman was reading it there would be more feeling in the story.

Narration lets it down

I loved the story, but the narrators voice was so deep and slow it was difficult to listen to. At first I thought he was under the influence of a substance - but as the book went on and things didn’t change I came to the conclusion that it was his manner of speaking that was so irritating. I like to listen to my Audio Books whilst driving, or doing my housework etc but because of the almost illegible narration I had to sit quietly and listen or I would never have worked out the plot or heard the conclusion.
