We all want to be happy - but why are we not?

Every child is born ecstatic - with a high level of happiness. Ecstasy is natural. It is something that everybody brings naturally into the world; everybody comes with it. It is part of being alive. Life is ecstasy. Every child brings it into the world, but then society jumps on the child, starts destroying every possibility of ecstasy, starts making the child miserable, starts conditioning the child, and the child comes to know that to be miserable is right, to be happy is wrong. That becomes the deep association. The fact is that society is neurotic, and it cannot allow ecstatic people to be here. They are dangerous for it. Try to understand the mechanism; then things will be easier. An ecstatic person is bound to be free. Ecstasy is freedom, ecstasy is against structure, ecstasy is rebellious.

This Osho talk was absolutely amazing. It starts talking about human society and how nobody gets to do what they want and it all starts when people are children. At school they are forced to pay attention, at night when they want to look at the stars they are forced to go to sleep and in the morning they are woken up when they might want to sleep more. This creates a situation where no one is in control and everyone is forced to do things society expects. Osho put it best: society used to serve man but now man serves society. Everything became inverted and man was enslaved by the so-called public servants and corporations that are supposed to serve him. This is just a small taste of what this Osho talk contains and once Osho starts talking about ecstacy it gets really good. In fact that is the best part of the talk. He started with when you are in misery you become a seed: when people are in misery they separate themselves and want to be alone. When you are in ecstasy: you are a flower in full bloom ready to share it's fragrance with the world. After Buddha or Mahavira meditated and spent time alone to become enlightened then they went back to civilization to spread what they have found. This is exactly how enlightenment works. He mentioned everyone is trapped in the mind and are not experiencing joy: in fact they cannot experience joy nor love for these are experienced through the heart. He talks about dancing, singing and art and how the one that has been trained is not the same as the one who paints, sings or dances from the heart. He even mentioned that it can be done with cooking and anything else: a wholehearted way of living completely connected in ecstasy. This Osho talk blew me away and was simply about living life in a way that the modern world is determined to forbid because the man in ecstasy cannot be controlled. He can dance while imprisoned, sing while suffering, and have great joy no matter the circumstances.

Profound Osho talk about society and ecstasy.
