Political revolutions have never resulted in the changes they promised. Real change can according to Osho only come from a personal rebellion, a rebellion based on "yes" - yes to existence, yes to nature, yes to yourself. Humanity has been guided by traditions which are all life-negative - the results of endless wars, a planet in danger and a humanity losing direction are obvious results of these traditions. Only a total affirmation of life, in an absolute yes to nature can bring a new earth and a totally new humanity into being.

The title of this talk is somewhat of a misnomer.

This speech is actually comparing and contrasting the difference between revolution and rebellion. Osho stated that revolution is what the world has done over and over again: when society has a revolt against a king or government and overthrows it, then it's only a matter of time before the situation is the same but with different rulers. He makes the argument for an individual rebellion and that if everyone has their own individual rebellion we might have a chance at changing things. My opinion is that perhaps Osho puts too much faith into humanity. I quote the matrix here but "You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged . And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependant on the system, that they will fight to protect it." I agree with Osho that the answer for the world is a spiritual change and I'm even onboard with our ability to make changes within ourselves individually but changing the material realm and all the power structures: it's far better to focus on your own spiritual attainment. I have heard Osho mention this in a previous talk which is that a communist movement is all about the physical and never attains to the spiritual therefore you will never attain spiritual fulfillment in a political movement. Just change yourself and maybe the world will change if enough people become enlightened but your focus should be on your own goals and purposes.
