Publisher's summary

The parents are dead. The girls are hiding. The killer is still inside the house.

Gabriel Kensington and his wife, Lydia, have been brutally slain in their luxurious home in New Mexico. A frantic, whispered phone call from their teenage daughter, Addis, and her best friend, Emerson, quickly alerts the authorities to the killings.

But when Detective Alyssa Wyatt and the squad appear at the house, the unthinkable has happened. The girls are nowhere to be found...and neither is the killer.

In a race against time, it's up to Alyssa Wyatt and her partner, Cord, to find the missing girls - and discover just why the Kensingtons have been targeted.

Because for Addis and Emerson, every minute passing could be the difference between survival - or an unthinkable death.

The addictive, absolutely nail-biting new Alyssa Wyatt detective novel will have fans of Kendra Elliot, Melinda Leigh, or Angela Marsons on the edge of their seat.

Great Procedural...

This is the third book in the standalone Alyssa Wyatt series. I prefer to listen to series in order and this book does mention incidents from previous books but also fills in background so you won’t feel lost if you start with this one. The publisher’s summary is spot on so there’s no need for me to recap the events that take place in this story with out sounding redundant.
This is a taught suspense/mystery that will keep you listening nonstop. The ending is completely unexpected and blew me away.
Kate Zane does a very good job narrating. She does speak a little slow and I had to listen to it at an accelerated speed.
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Ahhhhhh man!! it's over already

amazing story. I really hope there will be a 4th book. I cried when they did and laughed when they did (I loved Brandon's character 😁). I really hope there will be another book in the series.

Loved it

I'm from Albuquerque, it is so nice to hear our city in a book series.

Narrator

This narrator was very painful to listen to. I stopped listening to the book several times because I couldn’t take the slow drawn out speech. The story was excellent so I did finish the book. No more books by this narrator however

Alone in the Woods

The story was like the two books before it so interesting the only time I put it down is when I went to bed.

Three is no charm

There are just so many ways to tell the same story differently. I should have stopped at 2. Book 3 was just more of the same and tedious

seriously another story of kidnapping

Come on already 3rd book of young people being kidnapped. can't the author come up with another storyline for detectives? this can not be all the crime there is in Albuquerque. I couldn't even finish - no real story line - monotone interview type dialog - absurd. getting my credit back

too much

I really wanted to like this book. In the 1st book the serial killer turned out to be her brother they thought was dead. The second her partner had a sister that killed herself because of similar circumstances. This book everyone on the team had a struggle they were dealing with. I saw where she was going with the killer and kept thinking surely she will not be that ridiculous. It seemed every chapter has someone throwing up. Too bad, I wanted to like it
