Publisher's Summary

Half a million dollars will be Celeste Thorne’s reward for spending four years of her life in total isolation. No faces. No voices. No way to leave.

Since Celeste has never really worried about being alone, the generous paycheck she’ll receive for her participation in the solitary psychological experiment seems like easy money.

When she finds an injured hiker in the woods bordering her living compound, her strictly governed world is thrown into disarray. But even as she struggles with the morality of breaking the rules of the experiment, Celeste can’t deny her growing attraction to the kind and enigmatic Olivia Soldano. Still, how much can you really trust a stranger? And how much can you trust yourself when you know all the faces you’ve seen and voices you’ve heard for the past three years have only been your imagination?

But what’s real? Celeste’s reality may lie somewhere between the absolute truth and a carefully constructed deception.

Audio book even better

I thought that reading a book could not be improved on. I was wrong. Abby Craden has brought this excellent book to life. I cannot think of a better narrator to do EJ Noyes books into the audio world. This book should be number one in a number of categories not just Lesbian Romance. I have already preordered EJ’s next book and can’t wait.

Well done

A very intriguing read that I enjoyed immensely.
E.J. Noyes has written a page turner that will have you laughing one minute and sniffling the next.
And Abby Cradens narration is the proverbial icing on the cake. A must read or listen (or both).

Alone...Very Intense!

I really like E.J. Noyes as an author and Abby Craden as narrator. That is a great combination. That said, I wasn’t certain I could handle the “alone” theme for 3-4 years. Picture this: no faces, no music, no tv, no Internet, no phone. Yikes...no phone! Celeste had the motivation to try, and with difficulty succeeded....until a stranger arrived. Celeste questioned her sanity, worried about breaking rules of her contract, and made her decision. I really liked the book and the varied emotions conveyed. The story will grab you and keep ahold until the last line. And Abby Craden...is spectacular!

Excellent psychological thriller

First time I have listened to a book by this author. Her character development is marvelous, the way she shows us how Celeste coped with her abusive upbringing and how she now copes over new developments during the course of the book. What happens when Olivia is added to her private world. An interesting book for anyone looking for an unusual twist and turns in the story with a romance thrown in.

Meh!

Wasn't a bad book but just long and drawn out. While the plot was an interesting one and could've had so many twists, it was so slow and almost boring in some parts, eventually being somewhat anticlimactic. The narrator was fabulous tho, she is on eof my favorites, so I expected no less. Overall, I would not waste an entire credit on this, maybe if you catch a sale.

Another winner

Even though unlike many listeners I'm not a fan of this narrator, I thoroughly enjoyed the audio version of this wonderful book. Psychological (but not a thriller), emotional and beautifully exploring human feelings and reactions. I enjoyed every minute of it and I'm sure I'll listen to this book again and again. Brilliant.

Amazing

Wow! I loved this book. The story took me on a roller coaster ride with ups and downs but a ride I was sorry to end. Abby Craden was incredible with the narration. I love how she brings a story to life. She is now definitely my favorite narrator. I am now a big fan of EJ Noyes. Thank you for this moving story!!!

Don’t know what I was expecting

Despite this being another unoriginal pairing, I gave this story a shot. The plot started off interesting enough. There was a lot of potential. The protagonist isn’t likable and she is very childish and flaky. I could have understood how her past influenced her to a point, but her whole character and the needless back and forth with what she wanted didn’t achieve anything but annoyance and repetitiveness. I couldn’t empathize with her for being a self absorbed ass and I resigned myself to being disappointing by another lesbian novel. Although Abby Craden was awesome, I was so ready for this book to just be over with and wasn’t at all satisfied with the conclusion. Her love interest was better off with someone else who was more mature and less wishy washy.

Just Perfect

I never write 5* reviews, there is always something I don’t like. But it’s different with this one, it’s absolutely perfect. I’ve never felt so many emotions listening to an audiobook, it’s been absolutely incredible and my absolute favourite by a mile!

Incredible

Again I am blown away by how Abby Craden just takes E. J.Noyes’ books to the next level. This was an interesting read with some beautiful writing. The audio ups the tension, doubles the emotion and totally absorbs you in the story. Listen to it in the dark with headphones for the full effect. You need it in your life, you really do!

Fantastic story and narration

Always a pleasure to be absorbed by an E. J. Noyes novel. Interesting characters and setting and overall great story. Extra dimensions added by the consistently wonderful narration by Abby Craden. One of my favourite audio books of the year.
