Ripped from a dead-end life and plunged into a world where danger lurks behind every smile, Xiulan must learn to thrive in a realm ruled by ruthless ambition and deadly secrets.

When Li Mei dies in a traffic accident after another soul-crushing retail shift, she awakens in a familiar yet dangerous world: inside her favorite game, Phoenix Kingdom Chronicles. Now inhabiting the body of Lin Xiulan, the scorned second daughter of a noble family, she finds herself thrust into a nest of vipers where her very existence is an offense to those around her.

Armed only with her knowledge of the game and the wounds from a lifetime of dealing with entitled customers, Xiulan refuses to play the role of the family’s punching bag. Determined to rise above, she must master immortal alchemy, tame arcane spirit beasts, perfect her martial arts, and face off against her scheming sisters and stepmother.

In the Kingdom, power means everything. Weakness invites destruction, and Xiulan must do more than simply survive and fade into the background.

With the knowledge of a devastating future that awaits the realm’s beloved Crown Princess, she’ll need every ounce of her modern wit and growing abilities to prevent a catastrophe that would ruin the entire realm. All assuming she can survive her own family long enough to do anything about it.

Only by transforming herself can Xiulan hope to protect those she comes to care about.

I loved it. It might not be for everyone, but it was exactly the type of story I have been looking for. A great mix of cultivation, modern knowledge, and an imperfect but confident mc. I don't write many reviews, but am really hopeful this continues.

One of my favorites in a long time

First of all, let me say the narrators were excellent, they really brought the book to life. I also like the main characters as well as the side characters. They were written very well and each had their own motivations for what they did in the book. The problem I have was that the MC was not the main protagonist. She wasn’t the strongest. She wasn’t the driver of the story, I actually think her powers are quite lame. The MC is the one who’s supposed to save the day maybe as she develops in the next book her abilities will get stronger. Besides that enjoyed it I hope the author will come out with another one soon. Will actually be awaiting it.

The MC wasn’t the protagonist of the story

I've only really started to appreciate the Xianxia-cultivator genre, and I gotta say I think Erios here has done a great job with it. I can tell that its a "first book in a larger series" since it clearly spends a well-planned arc with each of the MC's companions... but it still really feels like each one has important emotional and character development for our heroine, beyond just being excuses for personal power growth.

Having read both of Erios' prior series, I've really loved the tight bonds that the female MCs have with their companions, both the sisterly bond in Shipcore, and the romance in Demoness... I love the foundation that gets established here in Wind Cultivator with the MC and the cast around her, and I'm excited to see which direction it goes!

I also really like how the plot gets moving as quickly as it does - unlike the prior two series that start more in slower "Woman versus Nature" buildup, we get right into the juicy stuff here with drama, a plan of action, and a decisive heroine that's ready to make it happen right off the get-go. Fantastic value for 1 Credit. Looking forward to the next book!

Erios in good form

This is by far this authors best series. I absolutely adored it. Minor spoilers ahead…

I like how our MC isn’t the most powerful, the most special, or the most important. She is a catalyst, her strengths are bringing together and uniting the unlikely and I think that’s just good writing. I like that her rash actions have had far reaching consequences. The pacing while on the slow side is exactly what this kind of story needs and I enjoy more breathing room and time to get to know the characters. I wanna see more of the brother and delve into the complexities of that relationship more. The magic system is pretty good as is the overarching plot. Can’t wait for the next one
