📖 Aldo has never been one to be distracted until Violet catches his eye and everything he thought about what he wants goes out the window.

❤️ Aldo and Violet are insatiable for each other once Aldo finally gives in to his attraction to Violet. I love the banter between Aldo and Violet and how she was able to give as well as she took and kept Aldo on his toes.

🖤 The suspense could have been a little bit more for the style of the book but all and all, another good book and I can not wait for the next book to see Roman swept off his feet just like Aldo.

🎧 John Lane and Maxine Mitchell did a great job of bringing another Melanie Moreland book to life.

Perfect.

Aldo is hard on the outside but a soft, gooey center. I love the way he loves Violet, he takes charge of her bad situation and makes her life better. These two narrators are some of my favorite combos, they make the story just a little sweeter. Great performance, great story and a happy reader. 5 beautiful stars. Oh, I would love more Aldo and Vi in the future, please and thank you. But no pressure to the author.

I have a girl crush on Violet

She is just so strong and funny she literally keeps Aldo and Roman on their toes.

I loved reading this but listening to this was pretty great. A few parts were a little mixed up but besides that I enjoyed listening to this.

Super enjoyable!

Really a great listen! Fantastic narrators and a really fun story. I’d consider this mafia-lite. Not all that dark, although there is a situation that is dealt with mafia-style. The love story happens pretty fast, but I feel like it adds to the story. I liked this one!

Swoony Mafia Goodness

I adored this.

I don't know what I was expecting from this novel. I have previously only read Small Town Romance from this author but I always enjoy a Mafia tale, so I was game. I was pleasantly rewarded with this romance between Aldo and Violet.

I found this romance to be a perfect balance of darkness and sweetness. I just found Aldo so endearing! His desire for Violet is a palpable thing and it brings out his protectiveness and wariness. Because he's never wanted a woman for more than the physical before. That is my favorite thing ever.

I really liked Violet and I loved how she didn't let life get her down. She may be starting from the bottom, in a new city, but she is a hard worker and she takes no crap. She made me laugh and she didn't take things too seriously but she was also strong and didn't get discouraged.

As the attraction between them grows, Violet keeps waiting for Aldo to make a move. She's not going to let him deny them both the pleasure she knows they can find. The little games they end up playing with each other were delightful and had me kicking my feet.

There was just a little bit of suspense and some situations that remind us we are in an organized crime romance. Yet it wasn't heavy handed and kept the book moving. At the end of the day I was here for Aldo and Violet and it kept the focus there.

This book got right to the point and didn't drag things out. It really reminded me of the Perfectly Imperfect series by Neva Altaj and I would recommend this to lovers of that series. I look forward to Roman's book coming soon.

The audio performances were so well done. I read this book twice within two weeks and the audio kept me just as engaged the second time.

Sweet Mafia Romance

Aldo is the first book from Men Of The Falls Duet, the duet tells the story of Roman Costas, the head of a Canadian Syndicate/Mafia. We start with Aldo, Roman’s right-hand man and enforcer who grew up with him and his brother Luca. If you have been following my reviews then you know I’ve been making a round in completing Melanie Moreland’s backlist. After I picked up The Contract last year, I became a big fan of her work, and so far all of her books are a hit for me, and I tell you that is not very often. She mostly writes sweet and fluffy romances which I find very comforting, so when I heard she’s writing a mafia romance (one of my favorite genre) I was like SIGN ME UP! And what a pleasant surprise it is! At this point, I will read anything she writes and I know I won’t be disappointed.

Aldo and Vi’s relationship progressed quite quickly from their instant attraction, but Aldo is very hesitant to make the first move due to his position as her boss and a dangerous man. Vi on the other hand never hesitated to show her interest, by teasing him relentlessly until he gave in. Aldo is such an alpha, yet so sweet at the same time, just a typical Moreland’s hero, extremely enamored by the heroine with the added touch her and you’ll die quality (literally).I adore this story so much, if anything it’s not long enough, I need more!

So many things I love about this book, it sets up Roman as someone that I cannot wait to meet on the other half of the duet. Roman plays a huge role in this book, his relationship with Aldo is fascinating, they are both protective and supportive toward each other, making it more like brotherhood rather than boss & his henchmen. Roman’s friendship with Vi is so endearing, they formed a close friendship, giving Vi a brother-like figure in her life. It’s so fun to see Aldo jealous, and he even gives her an adorable nickname! And also Luca! Roman’s brother who’s more like a cameo here, but he has an interesting backstory which I would love to know if he got his own book!

I think this book is the perfect one to start your journey in mafia romance if you have never read from this genre. Surprisingly quite a few of my bookish friends never touch this genre, and I understand it can be quite intimidating. But this book has a perfect blend of some dark theme with a sweet love story that I guarantee will not scare you off from this genre! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Take all my stars for my favorite narrating duo

Maxine Mitchell and John Lane can do no wrong. They exceeded my expectations with their performance as Aldo and Vi. I could feel their chemistry through their cadence narrating the authors amazing story. I will never tire of them pairing up and bringing these stories to life, elevating them on such a way that has me relistening to these books repeatedly. I adored this pair with their banter and on-page chemistry but to experience it in sound is the perfect sensory overload with every description the author pens.

Love Aldo

Oh boy you are going to devour this story like Aldo devoured Vi. No shame with that, I stayed in bed all day reading them. It was a really good story. I needed like 5 more chapters about them but now I have Roman as my next read so I’m happy with that. You are going to love how Aldo cares, his protectiveness and his personality. I love everything about him. And Violet? She is perfect, the light of his darkness. I love how direct she is and how sure of herself she is. She is really strong and independent and I love how patient she is with him. And specially how she went for everything she wanted. I love Luca and Roman, and obviously I love Nonna V. Can’t wait to read more of them. The audiobook as all Melanie’s audiobooks was perfect. I love how Maxine brings Vi to life and John, Aldo’s. I love the energy and passion they put in this audiobook. Love it.

Omg where do I start !!!!

I was so excited when I heard Melanie Moreland had a new duet coming out and all I need to say is….Aldo (Men of the Falls #1) was so much more than I expected. I’m not normally drawn to characters that are morally grey and Mafia romance is not my first choice but this book is intriguing, captivating, well written and I loved it so I highly recommend it to all romance lovers.

Maxine Mitchell and John Lane did a Fantas job bringing the characters and their story to life. They were easy to listen to and spit on with the emotions, love and passion that runs throughout this book.

Aldo Ricci is best friend and right hand man to Roman Costa, co owner of The Maple an upmarket Casino and hotel in Niagara Falls. A chance meeting with Violet (Vi) Nelson has him feeling and thinking about things he knows he shouldn’t but walking away doesn’t feel like an option…….
It was only meant to be one night for them to get each other out of their systems but as they spend time together they realise they both want more. But what happens when danger comes to play and will Aldo be able to protect Vi.
This is one of those reads that draws you in and doesn’t let you go, it has wonderful characters that you can’t get enough off, it’s an intriguing story that has all the feels and more importantly it has the perfect mix of love, passion, suspense and mystery. Ms Moreland has shown us how diverse her writing can be with this one and I’m very excited for Roman’s story in book 2.

a great read!

Aldo is the first book in the new Men of the Falls duet, and it was a great read. Melanie is one of my one-click authors and this book is a perfect example of why. A great story with great narration - I loved reading this one.

Aldo is dedicated to his work for Roman Costas. Roman is more than a boss/owner at the casino, he's also Aldo's best friend. They grew up together and have been close ever since they were kids. In addition to the casino they are part of the local underworld.

Everything is fine until Violet walks in looking for a job. From the very beginning there's chemistry between them and Aldo is protective over her. It was interesting watching these two fall for one another as they are from very different backgrounds. They were interesting characters who were well matched.

This book is on the shorter side, but Melanie does a great job at pacing the story and relationship development. Nothing felt rushed or forced, and I was hooked from the moment I started reading. I cannot wait to read the next book that features Roman!
