1 In 5 Americans Of US Are ACOA's Here's Help

Knowing is power. This book has helped me understand and help myself and best of all find help at ACOA Meetings. Life is going to get better because I'm working at it and I'm not alone and I'm in good company. Before I found this book, I was numb and feelings were confusing. I'm not an alcholic but I grew up with them all around me.

This book is a one stop shop it's got everything but it's better with friends.

Excellent content, horrible voice

What did you like best about Adult Children of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families? What did you like least?

The content is so right on, but the woman's voice that reads it is so annoying its very difficult for me to even listen to. Some people have good auditory ranges but this woman sounds irritating to listen to. I have listened to dozens and dozens of books thru audible, most have very good speakers, this one is such a shame as the content is so good it was not bearable to listen to. I had to actually read the book myself.

Audio chapters don't match the printed chapters

The audio chapters don't match the printed chapters which makes it difficult to go back and select specific parts of the book which is inconvenient for a reference book.

Audio Book supports 12 step study.

Aloha! Listening to audio book while reading the book supports my learning style. A meeting I attend uses it to listen to during meeting. Helps allow the reading time of meeting because not everyone has books yet.

Terrible choice of voice for this fabulous book!

The book is really good and one of the kind in regards to knowledge about Adult Children and how to heal from dysfunctional cooping skills, it gives hope to all grown up children in this world.

However the voice reading the content in this book is horrible, computerized, reading it with out any what so ever emotional connection with the content. I can't listen to it even though I really want to. And I'll go back to reading the actual book. Because how it's read out here is unbearable to my heart, and soul.

The chapters used has nothing to do with the actual book.
so when I look for chapter 8 from the physical book, which is about becoming our own loving parent, it's impossible to fint it.....

Life Changing

This book is amazing. It has changed my life. It is the missing piece I have been searching for. It really explains everything I have been feeling, but have been unable to get out. I absolutely recommend this book. That said, the narrator is really as bad as the other reviews state. There is a man and a woman. That is a nice idea. But, the woman's voice especially is like a monotone forced voice that is horrible. I am so into the content that I don't let it get to me. I imagine they were trying to save money maybe by not getting professionals. For as many people who would benefit and would be buying this book that is literally life saving, I wish they would have gotten professional readers. They remind me of kids that have to read in a school program and are incredibly nervous.

Annoying Children of Androids!

Seriously, do the narration again!

It sounds like it's being read by a robot - only with less feeling. How can anything this bad carry any message of hope?

I have to return it; it's a serious insult to an important book!

A great book.

A great book but unfortunately one of the narrators nasal, monotone deliveries, had the effect of triggering me, which defeats the object really. Just bought the hardback paper version.

Save yourself the time and read the book.

Tried listening the first ten minutes and its nothing but disclaimers and this girl screaming into the microphone. Unfortunate, because I have heard great things about the book. Try reading with a more soothing voice and structure the meat of the content towards the beginning.

Narration is appaling

It helped me get into ACA, which I’m very happy for. But the narration is really really bad.

I’m glad I used my free credit for it.

Also chapters are a bit all over the place. Would be helpful to have the actual book chapters marked or at least an index

Interesting but dull.

Fascinating insight into the world of borderline personality disorders however the narration is terrible. Full. Quite a quick disinterest occurs shortly after starting. Micro dosing is advisable.

I am so grateful for this book and the programme

This is a simple, step-by-step guide of how to go about implementing the steps in the programme. There are exercises that you can do as well.
One of the voices could almost be accused of being robotic-like but the message they are sharing is so powerful that I hope you would see past this.
