Meh a little too sappy for me

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

it was ok. I like a little less fairy tale and a little more intrigue.

Would you be willing to try another book from CA Belmond? Why or why not?

I am not sure. I found this to be a grade up from a Harlequin romance. Not my taste.

I would recommend this to a young teenage girl.

Almost gave up... A lot.

I waited quite a while before anything interesting happened, and when it finally did I still had trouble staying interested. Writing was mediocre at best.

Very enjoyable....the story, the narrator, the amount of suspense/mystery.

What other book might you compare A Rather Lovely Inheritance to and why?

Nancy Thayer and The Guest Cottage. Maybe Wendy Wax's and her Ten Beach Road series . Beth Harbisons When in Doubt, Add Butter or her Driving with the Top Down.

Which character – as performed by Katherine Kellgren – was your favorite?

I loved every character and how she portrayed them.

Any additional comments?

Loved this story...a little bit of intrigue, a bit of fun, lots of guessing....and a whole lot of wishing that I was the one who inherited the garage.

Relaxing sweet story

I throughly enjoyed listening to this entertaining book. The narrator did a great job and the story had just enough of an intriguing plot to keep me interested. I’m planning to listen to the rest of the series and find out what happens in Penny Nichols life.

great fun story

I enjoyed this story. the narrater had a good voice. the story was a cute journey of two people and a lovly surrounding.

Fun but flawed

Fun story, definitely recommended. I just got back from London and the Mediterranean and south of France where most of this book takes place so it was fun to imagine! But I will say the ending was weak and the heroine was a bit weak sometimes as well. The cousin bit - real cousins or not - made me feel a bit iffy too. But overall a good read!

Reader Wrecks It

If you could sum up A Rather Lovely Inheritance in three words, what would they be?

What to say? I suppose this book is definitely chick-lit, but it's several notches above that: the writing is excellent, the setting is great, and the heroine is not too ditzy. It's what I call TNT (Top Notch Trash), a thoroughly enjoyable well-written book that's very good for an afternoon's pleasure, but not going to change the world. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

What other book might you compare A Rather Lovely Inheritance to and why?

For comparable writers, I suggest old-time greats Elizabeth Cadell, Mary Stewart, Angela Thirkell.

Would you be willing to try another one of Katherine Kellgren’s performances?

I have tried other Katherine Kellgren performances: specifically some of Rhys Bowen's "Her Royal Spyness" series ( I stopped at about the sixth book; they were getting repetitive and really silly). Her reading there was perfect for the characters. Here, I was sadly disappointed. She came off as harsh and brash, and that's not how I picture Penny. I won't be buying the rest of Kellgren's reading for this series; it detracts too much from the simple pleasures of the book.

If you could take any character from A Rather Lovely Inheritance out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Aunt Pen. I'd love to have her reminisce about her experiences.

For me, these books were better in print. Too bad Penny isn't British: Kellgren could, no doubt, do much better with that accent.

A pure delight!

Absolutely loved this book! Great, interesting and funny story. I was sad to see it end, but glad there’s a sequel.

More fun than I was supposed to be having at work

The narrator did a great job with the accents. the story was so fun. Much more fun than I was supposed to be having at work where I finished it.

A rather lovely story though predictable

The story is nice, thou from the beginning is obvious what direction it turns. Some light interesting details about art.
