What if Jane Bennet had been born with a chromosome abnormality like Down Syndrome? Find out in this variation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice.

In Regency England, Elizabeth Bennet faces a year of formidable challenges. Her beloved sister Jane, born with a disability, finds herself in the midst of societal pressures that test Elizabeth’s protective instincts. As the Bennet family navigates these hardships, Elizabeth must confront those who would exploit her sister’s condition.

Meanwhile, Fitzwilliam Darcy, burdened with his own family secrets, grapples with his father’s mysterious past and concerns for his sister’s future. His path crosses with the Bennets as he and Elizabeth confront their prejudices and misunderstandings under trying circumstances.

As Elizabeth fiercely defends Jane’s dignity against the encroachments of the Bingley family, Darcy contemplates a revelation that could change everything. In a society where status and decorum often dictate actions, will the truths about the Darcy and Bennet families unite them or drive them apart?

A Most Beloved Sister is a compelling tale of loyalty, truth, and the powerful bonds of family in the face of adversity.

Trigger warning: mistreatment of persons born with disabilities.

A Most Beloved Sister is a full-length, sweet regency romance novel that is a variation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice.

A wonderful story, augmented by the special needs characters played BY persons who have disabilities. Narrated to perfection by all involved, which is particularly impressive considering the issues faced by the girls. I found having their voices gave me a fuller understanding of how it truly would have been. Reading the book was great, but your mind does not give the voices the full effect. I’m even more proud of Bingley because of this. I highly recommend this audiobook, and the regular book as well.

I highly enjoyed this story. It was enlightening. Only thing I think was a bit too much was all the religious speeches towards the end. The funeral, the christening and wedding. Love the dearly beloved etc but this was a bit much. Other than that a great story.

Lovely story

I read the book last year and really enjoyed it. however, listening to the audiobook added so much to my understanding of the story. The author's adopted sisters helped voice 3 characters in the book, and this change was so powerful because you emotionally connected with the characters as a result. Great job by all narrators on a really different and enjoyable book.

A Different Jane

This was a very touching story brought to life by the narrators. I enjoyed it and will put in my favorite list.

A wonderful story brought to life

I had the book on my TBR pile but on audible, I can listen when running errands and doing things around the house. It's difficult to listen to the way the Regency era treated those who were disabled. The physical and suggested sexual assault was disturbing. (Made me angry). There are always those who prey on others. For a long time, here in the US, the disabled were sent away (out of sight out of mind). Eugenics laws didn't end until the 1970's. However, I think things have improved in my life time. Disabled children and adults in protest Crawled up the US Capitol steps (March 1990) for passage of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). I enjoyed the story, the narration, a lot of work went into the narration that helped me really relate to the characters. I did tear up quite a bit. Society has evolved but it can always improve.
