Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author Rebecca Yarros comes a small-town single-parent romance.

Nine years ago, Weston Madigan saved me. I came to Colorado penniless, heartbroken, and pregnant, searching for a fresh start. Weston gave me a job at his family’s resort, then left the next day and never returned, not even to visit.

Then I stumble in on Weston cooking breakfast shirtless—gloriously, inappropriately shirtless—in the shared kitchen of my duplex in employee housing. Given the shock on both our faces, he wasn’t expecting a roommate either, let alone two.

The growly pilot is only home to start his family’s new heli-skiing operation. I can handle being his temporary roommate, right? Chemistry and attraction aren’t impossible to ignore when you agree on ground rules. Besides, even with those gorgeous, brooding brown eyes, the guy is a walking thundercloud...until my daughter, Sutton, makes him laugh and he smiles at me. Then everything changes. Cue inconvenient heart flip.

This is only temporary.

I can’t fall for Weston.

I. Will. Not. Fall. For. Weston.

But rules go out the window when you’re a little too close.

Great escape!

Jason Clarke was excellent as always. The female narrators annunciations were horrible especially as the male voice. I loved the novel taking place on the mountains. Rather than hot climates for a change. Characters were well developed. Good story line.

Great series

Weston Madigan never planned on returning to his childhood home. With memories of his mother’s death and his father‘s alcoholism he had no reason to want to go back to Colorado. But when his big brother calls in a favor Weston has no other choice but to return to the place he dreads most. What he isn’t expecting, is to end up sharing his home with a women and her young daughter. But Callie, and her daughter Sutton, worm their way into Weston‘s heart and soon he can’t see himself being anywhere but home.

Great story!

This is a new to me author and I was not disappointed! This is the second book, chronologically, in the series although it is listed last when viewing the series in audible. Callie, Weston and little Sutton stole a piece of my heart. I’m geared up to read the next installment and enjoy the ride as Crew finds his love. Exceptional narration! Don’t miss this one!!

Heartfelt, single parent romance!!

A Little Too Close by Rebecca Yarros was a swoony, heartfelt single-parent romance that left my heart feeling deliciously happy! This is book 2 in the Madigan Mountain series but can be listened to as a stand-alone. I am loving all these dreamy Madigan brothers oh so much! Weston is such a grump, and I adore how Callie and her daughter, Sutton tear down those emotional walls to discover one charismatic, dedicated hero.

Callie Dalton and Jason Clarke narrate this audiobook. This is the first time I’ve heard them paired together, and they did not disappoint! Callie’s performance of our heroine Calliope (Callie) showcased her determined, mama bear spirit, but also her desire to dream big and go after what she truly admired. Jason brought all his growly endearing charm to broody, stubborn, and eventually dreamy Weston. (Hello Chapter 10!) Both narrators had great kid voices, giving so much spunk and life to Sutton, Callie’s daughter. Plus, the chemistry between these two was a little bit forbidden and absolute fire!

Overall, I loved the audiobook! If you are a fan of a forced proximity romance with a hot helicopter pilot, an ambitious photographer, a sweet and devoted daughter, reconnecting with family, helicopter spice (whew!), ski resorts, adolescent birthday party sleepovers, loyal best friends, going after your dreams, and a HEA that will capture your heart and let love fly, then you will love Weston and Callie’s story! I’m looking forward to more from Rebecca Yarros.
