New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux will capture your heart with this miraculous time slip romance between a modern woman and a literal knight.

Dougless Montgomery has tried everything to achieve the perfect balance between self-sufficient and sexy, independent and agreeable—exactly the kind of girl she thinks a man would want. Still, she finds herself weeping upon a cold tombstone in an English church, rejected and abandoned by her boyfriend on a vacation she planned. Suddenly, Nicholas Stafford, Earl of Thornwyck appears before her but according to his tombstone, he died in 1564.

Despite their shock and the countless differences between a 20th-century girl and a 16th-century nobleman, Dougless and Nicholas are drawn together by a bond that defies reason. Dougless has finally found what she’s been searching for: someone who does not seek to change her, who finds her perfect, fascinating, just as she is.

But neither is prepared for the strength of their ties to the past…or the grand adventure that lies before them. Hailed worldwide as one of the most romantic novels of all time, A Knight in Shining Armor is “the epitome of every woman’s fantasy” (Daily Herald, Chicago).

If you could sum up A Knight in Shining Armor in three words, what would they be?

Romance needs a woman's touch/voice!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nicholas Stafford was my favorite in the Audible version only because it felt more natural for a man to be talking his part as opposed to a man reading a romance book from a female's perspective.

How could the performance have been better?

A woman reading the book would have made it more natural plus she would have had the insight of knowing that Douglas Montgomery was just coming into her own as opposed to making her sound whiny!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end because I just couldn't take the performance.

Any additional comments?

I remember reading the book when it first came out. I fell instantly in love with Jude Deveraux and her strong women with quirky, strong personalities. I couldn't wait to listen to it on Audible. Much to my dismay, this is the first time I was disappointed by a performance. A man was reading a romance novel which is mostly based on a female's perspective. I couldn't wrap my head around Douglas Montgomery's character and it somehow diminished her strengths. She was made out to be more of a whiner than a woman that was beginning to realize she didn't have to put up with anyone else's baggage.

Great Story But Performance Ruined It!

Would you consider the audio edition of A Knight in Shining Armor to be better than the print version?

Haven't read the print version, but would like to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Except for her name, Douglas, I enjoyed the main female character. The author portrayed her as any woman would act having a knight from 400 years ago appear before her.

What aspect of Steve West’s performance would you have changed?

Would have liked to have heard the women's voices portrayed differently. Mr. West performed the male characters very well.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love that spans the ages!
Prepare for an emotional ride, the extremes of love, heart ache, happiness and despair.

Any additional comments?

I wish the story would have continued a bit beyond the end. It's like dropping one's child off on his/her first day of school. You know they will be ok, but you're not there to see it and feel it.

Emotional!

This is one of my all-time favorite stories. When this came out, it was by far THE book that got me excited about reading. Up to that point, I was not a big reader. Every once in a while, I read it again and my heart gets fills up!

This love story never gets old!

Still my favorite Jude Denveraux book.
While the relationship development is a tad frustrating, overall, I love this story!
Always a wonderful way to get ready for The Renaissance Pleasure Faire!
Methadone List for Droughtlander too!

Loved this when I first read it in the 90s, so I had to download and give it a listen. The narrator did a good job with Nicolas but not with Dougless. When I read the book, I saw Dougless as sensitive but stronger than she knew. The narrator made her sound very whiny and pitiful. It was the standard male take on female sensitivity.

Good story but needed two narrators
