The Chosen one that no one needed
This book might be up your alley for a number of reasons even though it wasn't for me:
1) You're new to the romantasy genre or reading for fun in general
2) You're younger than 18
3) You're a fan of Rebecca Yarros. *P.S. I HATED the Fourth Wing series but if you liked it, you'll probably like this book since they're similar.
I'm a fan of Sarah J. Mass and Carissa Broadbent and enjoy YA if it's well-written and attempts to be original. This was not that. The arch of this FMC has been done to death: She's the chosen-one with mysterious and impressive magical powers that "no one" could have predicted; she has low self esteem and when a super hot guy is really mean to her for no reason she loves it; all her thoughts and awkward interactions revolve around how nervous she is because he's hot. Throw in a magical tournament to the death and I'm getting a headache from rolling my eyes. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄😠
