Pleasant, but I don’t know if I could read a whole novel

There are a lot of these books on the market who have a bit of a childish narrative. The characters never feel quite mature. This is one of those. It’s okay as a short story, but for me personally I will give the author a further miss. I need more depth, and this feels more like a book for tweens than it does for adults. But for what it is, it certainly isn’t half bad.

Short with Lots of Action

Interesting idea for a book. characters are varied and likable even though many are dead.

Happy ending, poor narration

I am sure I could appreciate the author’s writing more if I heard it with a different narrator, or read it myself. This narrator was not good. I almost quit right away but I was too lazy to pick a new story so I stuck with it. For the story itself, I am glad I did.

I have a feeling I’ve read some of this series before but I thought I had quit because it veered off into werewolf territory. Anyone know which series I might be talking about there? Lol

Super quick listen...

A Ghostly Gift is book 1.5 in the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series. This is a cozy mystery told in 1st person POV for main character Verity Long. A Ghostly Gift is a short story/ short listen and is only 1 hour and 3 minutes in length.

The series is about a woman named Verity who unknowingly cleans out a man named Frankie's ashes from an old vase looking jar into her rosebushes and it traps his ghost on her property allowing him to only leave when Verity takes his urn off the property. The ghost, Frankie, shows himself to her and so begins her ability to see ghosts.

This book is a short novella that focuses on a quick job of solving a haunting at the local resale shop. The place is full of ghosts but recently one became destructive and the owner needed to solve the problem before it cost her any more money.

I really liked this short story. It was really touching. I think I might have found a new series to binge-listen.

I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed reading this book as much as I enjoyed listening to it. The narrator really sells the suspense and emotion through her reading. She did a really good job. Her voices were distinct and clear and her pronunciation was good.

So far, I recommend this series. I am starting book 2 now.

Cute story, but lacked surprises- very linear. The story is interesting and the actors did well bringing it to life!

Perfect

Such a sweet loving short story sorry. It's fun and light hearted and just enjoyable. A nice addition to this series Where you get to see Verity use her ghost seeing ability for helping a ghost in mourning.

Adorable

Short & sweet-light entertainment which I throughly enjoyed! Love the characters, the narrator Tavia Gilbert does a fantastic job of bringing the story to life…dramatizes it instead merely reading it as so many do.
So happy I found Angie Fox-I will be bingeing!!

Loved it

Lovely short story, very sentimental as you would expect for Christmas although the story itself is not set in December. This has introduced me to an author I have not read before.

Love is Eternal

This novella comes between Verity Long’s first adventures as a Southern Ghost Hunter in – Southern Spirits and the second book The Skeleton in the Closet.

These books are always well plotted and written, with a great set of characters.

This is a really lovely short story that I enjoyed listening to from Audible UK’s ‘Plus Catalogue’, and wonderfully narrated by Tavia Gilbert.

Verity Long doesn’t want to see ghosts, and she’d rather not let anyone know her little secret, either. But when a restless spirit stirs up trouble in her friend’s resale shop, Verity and her very new, very dead gangster friend team up to learn what is really happening.

They discover an age-old secret, and must learn the truth behind a mysterious disappearance…before it’s too late.

A Sweet Cozy Paranormal Mystery Short Story

I am a big fan of this series; I love Ms Fox's writing style, the pace at which her tale flows, how she weaves all the elements together and how she gets me completely engaged in the story. She weaves present day mysteries and murders with those of the past and always includes a twist that surprises me!

Although this is a quick, short read, all of my expectations were met beautifully in this story.

I downloaded the narration and was once again impressed by Tavia Gilbert's performance: the pace at which she read, the emotions she infused the different scenes with and the tonal variations she used for the dialogue.

I really loved this story and only rated it 4 stars instead of 5 because I am reluctant to award 5 stars to books this short.
