One of the best books I’ve read in years

A new convert to cozy fantasy, this is exactly the vibe I need in life. Please write more of these, world. Loved this book and can’t wait to read book two.

It's sweet but....

The MC, isn't unlikeable but the fact she fights everything and everyone due to anxiety and is a stereo type. For a feel good book it's kinda frustrating

disliked: how long it took Arletta to embrace the idea of her and Theo. liked: It took me a few chapters to understand the names and "world" but then fell right into it !

A cute comfort listen

This book is well written, but obviously very short, don’t go in expecting too much intrigue or drama. It’s just not that kind of story. What is it then? A story about a talented young woman learning to be confident in herself and discovering that she may in fact deserve more than she’d let herself believe. It’s something great to put on while cleaning for a day or relaxing with a project. The narrator is amazing, but there were one or two moments where I distinctly heard a dip in recording quality. They were brief and she was awesome, so I’m not knocking off performance. Also the food descriptions are mouthwatering, my only regret with getting the audible version is not having the recipes at the back of the book.

Family friendly fun that was perfect for a mindless work commute

My main complaint is the main character's self-deprecations. It's over the top and doesn't really play a part in the character's development, but rather just creates problems so the storyline can develop... which is a choice.
The resolve is, while predictable, lighthearted and happy. This is a sweet story and is perfect for a commute or something to listen to for the whole family.

Just like a lovely piece of cake, enjoyed this story from start to finish. Super excited for the next book in the series!!

Cozy AF, terrific narration

The narrator really did a good job of giving me a specific perspective of the characters. I felt like because of their acting choices, the characters really came alive. The plot is very low stakes, cozy fantasy that feels like a hug.

The perfect cozy fantasy for a sweet treat and warm cup of coffee.

I’m relatively new to the world of cozy high fantasy, but books like this are making me a huge fan, and quickly. I’ve had a lot of chaos in my life over the last month and reading this story gave me the sense of calm and peace I needed to reground. I absolutely loved the writing style, the characters, and flow of the book and the world building. It wasn’t so over the top that I had to reread sections to keep up, but it was interesting enough that I made sure I really paid attention so that I could correctly visualize what the author wanted the readers to “see” as they read. Which is something I normally struggle with. I read the Bookshops and Bonedust series by Travis Baldree and was a little concerned that any of the other books I read in this genre might feel like knockoffs, but that absolutely was not the case. J. Penner set themselves apart without losing the magic of the genre. The story was so creative and whimsical. It’s the perfect book to curl up with a hot cup of coffee on rainy day and lose yourself in pure enchanting bliss. I will absolutely be reading the rest of this series. Side note….don’t read this book if you’re hungry! :)

I gave it 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5. It wasn’t that this book was lacking, at all, and even though I really, really enjoyed it, it didn’t blow my mind. In a category of its own, it would definitely be 5 stars, but weighing it against all the other books I have read, I would say it’s a top 20, but not a top 10.

It’s a great story for sleep and calming a bit odd at times idk it’s hard to understand in the beginning I think it’s good

Cozy and sweet

Cozy with a very anxious lead, so if thst bothers you...to bad, i just felt seen.
I loved it, Miniscule nitpick: had to get used to how the leads name was pronounced by the narrator. Was sure she said "A letter" for the longest time.

the story was heartwarming, so cozy, sweet and found family feels. also made want to eat all the baked goods and I will most assuredly read the next book. !!! Loved it
