Publisher's Summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author W. Bruce Cameron once again captures the bravery and determination of a very good dog in the gripping sequel to A Dog’s Way Home, the acclaimed novel that inspired the hit movie!

Bella was once a lost dog, but now she lives happily with her people, Lucas and Olivia, only occasionally recalling the hardships in her past. Then a weekend camping trip turns into a harrowing struggle for survival when the Rocky Mountains are engulfed by the biggest wildfire in American history. The raging inferno separates Bella from her people and she is lost once more.

Alone in the wilderness, Bella unexpectedly finds herself responsible for the safety of two defenseless mountain lion cubs. Now she’s torn between two equally urgent goals. More than anything, she wants to find her way home to Lucas and Olivia, but not if it means abandoning her new family to danger. And danger abounds, from predators hunting them to the flames threatening at every turn.

Can Bella ever get back to where she truly belongs?

A Dog’s Courage is more than a fast-paced adventure, more than a devoted dog’s struggle to survive, it’s a story asking that we believe in our dogs as much as they believe in us.

I should have read the book

Narrator was awful. Very hard to listen to. The pace and tone was very tedious. Pity, I really like this author

Horrible Narration

I had a hard time enjoying this book because of the narrator. She sounds like she is reading to toddlers. I understand that these books are child friendly, but I do not believe they are categorized under children's literature, but instead contemporary literature. I have listened to ALL of his books, but this one was the hardest for me to finish. I had to speed the narration to 1.45x, and even then, it sounded like a normal pace. She reads really slow with an inflection typical of that which you would use reading to preschool children. I don't know if I will be interested in ever listening to another one of his books.

Listening is a different way to enjoy a book but best thing is I can listen anywhere!

I read the first book and found myself chuckling as I read. Listening took some time to get used to but I really enjoyed the “through a dog’s eyes expressions. Those “Incredible Journey” stories are always a special treat.

Oh Bella!

The beautiful story of Bella in “a dog’s journey ,” is continued here. Started off a tiny bit slow, but then Bella once again allows us to feel emotionally connected to characters she speaks to and about! It’s a must, if you have the book

Nan Simcox…

I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, the human and animal characters and the narration. In fact, I have yet to find one of Mr. Cameron’s books that did not grab and hold my attention throughout!! I am a dedicated dog person and it still amazes me how quickly nearly every dog I meet, recognizes me as a kindred spirit. I currently have 2 miniature dachshunds, a 1year old Scottish Terrier and a cat who all brighten each and every day for me!

Bella the Brave

I have enjoyed Bruce Cameron's dog books since the very first- A Dog's Purpose- and have gladly followed the many lives and adventures of the doggos! I have to say this one was probably the most action-packed and hopeful plot yet! without giving anything away, this book has managed to loudly proclaim and advocate for the importance of all wildlife having the right to live in their natural habitats without fear. Also, animals are capable of being with each other in ways humans have yet to grasp. One of the main characters is a Veteran (as am I) with PTSD, and his story is handled with respect and openness. If you want some great heartfelt stories, read all of the books in this mtifaceted series!
