Not bad

Not bad but lots of errors. Strangley 3/4 of the way it turns into a mystery but too many things didn't fir. There were also lots of loose ends we never get answers for. I kinda liked the MCs. I found their emotional reactions irrational but real. The mechanics of their love story was ok but I never felt the connection, mainly because of all the errors.

I'm not a fan of the over dramatized spitting delivery of the narrator. But I don't think it had any bearing on why.I didn't like the story better.

Overall, I would never want to reread this book.

Mystery and romance

There was So much sorrow and turmoil that it was very difficult to sympathize or relate to the main character. Even when it ended happy, there was Still constant disagreements. I realize that marriage does not change character but yikes. The author did a good job in transitioning from present to past and vise versa so the story was a bit slow in its progression. Was it worth listening? 🤷‍♂️

Wonderfully Enjoyable

This was a fun listen. The story is well constructed and it is very well written. Mary Sarah does a fantastic job narrating. The characters are complex and likable. Owen is a dreamy book boyfriend. Scarlet is endearingly petulant and strong-willed. The mystery kept me guessing. I thought I had it figured out but was surprised. I will continue with the series and hope the sequels are as engaging as the first book.

The social classes are always the barrier to happiness and equality for all, in this era, for most stories. An enjoyable listen.

The story was interesting. It provided some suspense and surprises. I wish there would have been more elements to the plot structure. More family history of the characters, which could have added to the length of the audiobook. It would have been nice if more details were made about Sherwood’s involvement with Ruth. A decent listen, even if the storyline was incomplete, for me personally. I do enjoy this author’s work.

Not that great

I didn't care or anyone in this book. Too much drama. But at least it wasn't boring.
