Beautifully-written Story

I hope this author writes more books like this. It gripped my attention from the start and had me thinking about it when I wasn’t listening. After listening to a bunch of trashy romance novels it was so refreshing to find something with real heart, sweetness and intelligence. The suspense and also the main character’s dependence on God when she felt truly alone really made this so satisfying. I can identify with her in many ways. The romance element was not explicit at all but still allowed the chemistry to shine through.

Can’t deal with narrator

I can’t finish this. This narrator is my least favorite, but I thought I’d try anyway. Nope. Even though she can do some voices well, I still can’t tolerate her shakiness, her non-native accent, her dreary tone, her intensity, her vocal fry, etc. It’s frustrating to see her on so many audiobooks.

Favorite Author, Wonderful Story

I understand this is Joanna Davidson Politano’s debut book, but I listened to two others by her before finding this one. (A Rumored Fortune and Finding Lady Everly)

I searched for any other books by Politano after how much I enjoyed those two, and was so excited to find Lady Jane Disappears. It’s just SO GOOD!

Cannot recommend her enough. Take a chance on this Christian author, you will not regret it.

Voice detracts from 5 star novel

I loved the story, but the readers voice was a dread to listen to! It shows how compelling the story is that I continued listening to her dreadful voice. I can only hope she cultivated it, for some failed reason and doesn’t actually sound like that! This is the only time I’ve had such a dislike for the voice and I listen to a different book every week. You required me to give one star to performance, that wasn’t deserved, in order to accept my review. I didn’t want to give any stars to that dreadful voice!

Elegant delivery. Excellent storyline.

Well written and beautifully narrated. Enjoyed every minute of it. I hope it's a series.

Excellent story

I enjoyed the story. I don’t know how I feel about the introduction to each chapter but I was starting to grow accustomed to it by the end

Weird accent and speech patterns

I find her narration style to have some repetitive breath and whiny features that are distracting. The story is good, but I have not been able to finish the book. I’ll read it instead.

Mystery Novel or Prayer Meeting?

I'm not sure this was listed correctly under the mystery category. The story itself was okay, but the frequent forays into verse and scripture reminded me of having my dinner interrupted by someone knocking on the door wanting to share the word. If religion is your thing, great, but it had little to do with the main story line and seemed more, oh i don't know, opportunistic by randomly injecting personal beliefs under the guise of character dilemma. Ultimately, the story is okay, the performance very good, but I probably won't be listening to anything else by Ms Politano.

Highly recommend. Wonderfully written and comes to life in your imagination. I can’t wait listen to more by this author.
