Publisher's summary

Queen of the fae courts. Faced with an impossible battle. Destined to never be with the Unseelie I love.

The magical tea has worn off. My eyes are wide open. And it’s with horror that I realize the fate of two realms rests on my shoulders, after my mother’s ultimate sacrifice to trap Rubezahl in Underhill.

Terrified humans clamoring for answers, whispered rumors from both Seelie and Unseelie, and a stepmother who seeks the throne for surprising reasons are the least of my troubles.

Rubezahl has returned far sooner than I thought possible. I’m not ready. I can’t win this. And not only that....He has something crucial, if we are to win. He’s taken something I cannot live without.

The place of the final battle has been decided, and two armies will meet. Yet, forces beyond my understanding must be satisfied first - old magics rise, and they demand their dues.

There is no option but to race, and decipher the puzzle, to save the man I love, the friends more important to me than my own life, and humans and fae alike.

Two realms.

Only I can save them.

We’re screwed.

If you can’t get enough of Sarah J. Mass, Holly Black, or Jennifer L. Armentrout, you will love this vibrant world where impossible love, and an explosive pace, will leave you breathless!

End of a Trilogy

I am torn. I am sad this series is done, but also happy it has concluded. The continual character development was amazing, yet I feel we still needed more. It would be an interesting spin off to do something with Underhill and what happened with her.

I find myself resonating with Alli and all of the baloney she went through as a child to get to where she is now. Everything in our pasts shape who were are today and Alli realizes this at the end.

There is so much complexity to this story that so much could be explored. The magic system, the different types of fae, the complexities of political systems and friendships.

Though not a very helpful review on my part, I would recommend this series, especially if you are a fan of Sara J Mass and Jennifer L Armentrout.

Satisfying ending!

Very satisfying ending.

I didn't love how black and white/ good and evil the overall tone was. I wish it had more nuance, but I still really appreciated the ending. It's HEA, but with a cost, and that made it feel more realistic. I liked it enough that I intend to read the spin off when it comes out.

An amazing ending to an amazing trilogy

Wow - that was touch and go - I wasn’t sure what was going to happen!

The ending made me cry - with tears of happiness and sadness.

I loved the voice actor. 5 stars!

Riveting

Although I guessed what would happen it was still a great thriller on the last few chapters. I cried with the characters too! I look forward to more of Shannon’s work.

Missed its Potential

I'll start by saying I love the narrator. I actually picked this series because I loved Elizabeth Evans' performance in the Throne of Glass series. It was ok. I personally like descriptive books with complex characters and plots which iswhere this seriesfell short in my opinion. I can see how a lot of other readers could find it enjoyable though.

The series had great potential and could have been so much more. They set up a foundation for great world building and interesting characters but fell short in their development. Throughout the series, I felt like parts of the story were rushed. They lacked description and enough depth to really draw me in.

I was invested just enough from the first book to keep going. After the second book, I really hoped the story and characters would show more complexity, but partway through book three, I just felt confused and frustrated, like it jumped around too much. Pieces of information were given to move the characters forward, but without enough explanation to really understand why or what was really going on. There were too many battles that just came out of nowhere and ended just as quickly and anticlimacticly. It's similar to the intimate scenes between the main character and her love interest.

I was not emotionally invested through most of it. It lost my attention several times where I had to go back and figure out where I'd stopped listening. Overall, it was just ok to me.

Powerful performance and a wonderful world

What a way to end the series! I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning. Alli proved why she’s the best person for the role amazingly. We also got more action between Alli and Lan, something I’ve been waiting for since Book 1.

I am not a fan of the ending, though. It was a letdown that Alli had to give up on something to win at the end. She definitely deserved more than what the ending gave her. FMC paying the price to win at the end is not my favorite trope.

All the lies and secrets that have been hidden till now were exciting to uncover. Rubezahl was an interesting character to learn about. The planning and the details that went into it was fascinating to learn.

I listened to the audiobook and the performance was alluring. I enjoyed every second of the experience! Officially in love!

Absolutely AMAZING!!! Let me just start by saying.

.....I rarely ever give 5 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 reviews, but this... Ohman, does this trilogy deserve them!
A movie needs to be made from this series, for sure!
This series was such a wonderful pleasant surprise!! one of the best Fantasy/Romance/Adventures I have had the pleasure of listening to in a long time. It made me flipping bawl like a baby! and I never cry!!! What an emotional rollercoaster for me.

Also, all of the characters are so very well written and throughout! I absolutely loved them all! They are relatable and loveable for the most part and remind me of some of the people I have loved and lost in my life. They were all also narrated so damn well!
The narrator did an excellent, amazing job! Without the amazing voice of this great sounding narrator, there's no way I would have loved this series as much as I do, ai don't think, As many of you very well know, a narrator will make or break a book. at least in my opinion anyway, without an amazing narrator, there is no good audio book. With that said, this series was extremely well written and thought out. It's rare to find such an amazing mix of a very good author and narrator blend with well thought out and well discripted characters that you absolutely love or love to hate and / or hate to love.
I genuinely did not want this trilogy to end. I listened to all three stories back to back throughout the night, I just couldn't stop listening!
It will be difficult to top this trilogy it was so good!! I'm so glad I found it. I will have to listen to more of her other amazing writings for sure.

Absolutely most definitely worth the credits!!!

What a lousy ending! Waste of time. I was very disappointed And I wish it had a happier ending.

There was no balance in this book. It was all sacrifice on the main characters part. What did Underhill sacrifice?

A fitting end…

Another great read from Shannon and Kelly. There were many twists and turns… I so didn’t see a lot of that coming. Which is good. The surprises are worth the wait. Lol

Kallick and Lan have a some hard choices to make not only for themselves but for the entirety of the fae. The giant is on the war path, Adair is up to no good, as usual and now…. Things have hit a whole new level of WTF.

One by one they’re making changes for a better future. Now they just have to fight to save what they’ve built. When walls come crashing down around them… the hardest choice they’ll ever have to make falls at their feet.

This was a good end to this trilogy. I can’t to see what these two brilliant story tellers come up with next!

What an ending!

I’m sitting here in pure awe of this amazing world I had the pleasure of immersing myself into. The combination of these two authors talents is nothing short of brilliant and I’m sad this is the “end” for two of my favorite characters. I am pumped for the next journey and can’t wait to see who we get the pleasure of taking a new adventure with.

A fitting end - but is it the end?

Enjoyed this book with all the twists and turns in the story across the 3 books. Didn’t expect it to end this way but I’m glad it did as it kept me interested. Good show!

The struggle is real

This serious just declined, one book after the other. The writing is difficult to listen to and sometimes the story is hard to follow.

The only reason I made it through to the end is because Elizabeth Evans is so easy to listen to!

The first book was the best, and at that it was stellar. Wouldn't recommend.

A Fitting End to an Amazing Trilogy

This has been a great collaboration between the two authors and I was sad to see the trilogy end. There were so many twists and turns throughout all 3 books and this final instalment delivered with a very unpredictable ending. Oh, I didn’t see that coming! I loved the world, the friendships, the romances and I really cannot recommend this series highly enough. Brilliant throughout and for anyone who loves audiobooks, the characters are wonderfully brought to life by the amazing narration of Elizabeth Evans!

Gold for the win!!

There's lots of twists and turns going on in this book, for Kallic and Lan. Some good and some really not good. What will happen when the battle truly begins in earnest?!?!

This is certainly a battle no one wants to see lost, well no one except Ruby that is, but is there more going on here??

Well of course the only way to find out the answer to that is to read (and hopefully listen to) the book. Trust me it really is worth the cost!!

As much as they're the heroes of this book, there is one other I think everyone forgets.

No I'm not on about Cinth, but Kikuindateeth!! Again something you'll learn if you read (and hopefully listen to) the book. Yet again, it's well worth the cost!!

I won't say that Kikuindateeth is a silent brooding type, but more of a foul mouthed, impolite, and master of foul wind type. Do I really have to put about buying the book again??

I should get a percentage for marketing 😇😇

Look the truth of the matter is, this book is just as brilliant as the other two, yet better. Things you think will happen won't and vice versa. As I'm not one for doing spoilers, there's not much that I can say, other than you'd be a fool not to read this.

To help mete out and bring the personalities of all of the characters, is yet again, the wonderful vocal talent of Elizabeth Evans!! I

Without her wonderful charm and more than recognizable voice, this audio of the tale wouldn't have been the hit it is!!

You can feel the characters and that makes you fall deeper into the spell, that Kelly and Shannon started off. Without Elizabeth, I have a feeling that it might not have got the mark.

Not just anyone can narrate certain books, it takes a particular person to figure out what the story needs. In this instance Elizabeth was the one needed, who understood who the characters are!!

So don't be a dumdum or nincompoop and without delay, but both the book and audio today!!

Wow

Wow, that was certainly a tense and action-packed final book. I'm pretty sure I was filled with anxiety the entire time!

I don't know where to start with this review, as too much detail would spoil the events if the first two books, but this starts off where the second finished, with Kallick as an unenthusiastic queen, meaning she is separated from Lan and terrified of the upcoming battle that she just feels she won't be walking away from. What then follows is a mixture of heart ache, battles, meaningful moments and ultimately, sacrifice.

Stunning trilogy

Absolutely Stunning and hugely emotional finale.
I loved every moment of this series! Omg! Definitely one of my all time favourites!

I’m really sad it has all ended (albeit in a very emotional yet beautiful way). I could really do with more of this story, this world, these phenomenal characters! Just three books and I’m invested deeply and profoundly.
Absolutely brilliant.

And Elizabeth did a freaking amazing job at narrating another epic series.

Action packed series

An exciting listen, as a gripping story, with the added bonus of being narrated by Elizabeth Evans.

With each page turn, your unsure if a new portal will appear or who is on your side. Highly recommend a listen

Great till the last hour

The series was pretty interesting, and I enjoyed it. Anything narrated by Elizabeth Evans is always amazing. However, the last hour lacked sensitivity and while it wasn't a tragic, the end was very unfulfilling.
