Publisher's Summary
As a veteran of six successful Kickstarter campaigns (and counting) and the proprietor of the Kickstarter Lessons blog, Jamey Stegmaier knows something about crowdfunding. In this audiobook he goes beyond the nuts and bolts of how it works to a deeper level - crowdfunding not just as a cool way to raise money but as a better way to build and run a business.
This book features over 40 illustrative examples of crowdfunding campaigns. Some succeeded wildly - like the high-tech cooler designer whose first attempt faltered but whose second raised $13 million. Some were sobering disasters, like the board-game maker (not the author!) whose mistakes caused his project to collapse in two months, forcing him to return over $100,000. Stegmaier uses these stories to make points about topics such as preparation, timing, what kind of offers to make and what kind to avoid, what to spend money on and when, and more.
But he insists it's not just about the money - if you follow Stegmaier's advice, crowdfunding can enable you to build a loyal following before you even have a product. He shows that if you treat your backers as people, not pocketbooks - communicate regularly with them, ask their opinions, attend to their needs - they'll become advocates as well as funders, exponentially increasing your and your projects' chances of succeeding.

Incomplete, boardgame focused
Would you try another book from Jamey Stegmaier and/or Mitchell Lucas?
This book does a good job of covering crowdfunding of boardgames for Kickstarter only. The author did make some generic advice but the majority of the examples were boardgames. Very little on technology projects for example. He lists other crowdfunding sites at the beginning but the rest of the book is all kickstarter. He covers some things thoroughly, such as how to set up a shipping distribution network to cover Europe and Asia (ship palettes of product to Amazon Fulfillment centers). In many other areas, the book could have been more complete. For example it offers some advice on what to put in a promotional video and how long to make it . It says nothing about how to produce such a video.
Was A Crowdfunder's Strategy Guide worth the listening time?
maybe
Any additional comments?
For boardgame creators, this book is quite a valuable resource.

An inexpensive introduction to Crowdfunding
This book gives an introduction to how the author used crowdfunding as a support to his ventures and even better than this, he also gives some very intuitive lessons on where he made mistakes. Overall this book is easy to follow and an easy listen, I would recommend to anyone contemplating the entrepreneurially path.

Good introduction
What made the experience of listening to A Crowdfunder's Strategy Guide the most enjoyable?
Not knowing much about crowd funding from any angle this was a great introduction. The author doesn't oversell and knows what he is presenting.
Which character – as performed by Mitchell Lucas – was your favourite?
The character of Jamey Stegmaier was performed really well.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Let's be honest here, not sure that it would translate well to film and at this time of night, after my one or two whiskeys, can't think of any clever tag lines.
Any additional comments?
As an overview it was great and if I get serious of raising funds by crowdsourcing I would definitely give this one a re-read.
